Military and private satellite snapshots of Mount Ararat in eastern Turkey reveal an anomaly that researchers say might be the remains of Noah's Ark. A soon-to-be-launched commercial spacecraft will focus powerful cameras on the mysterious mountainside oddity to help unravel its true nature.

The Bible tells us how the Great Flood happened, compelling Noah to herd all of animal life into his Ark. The skies opened and it rained incessantly, in fact for 40 days and 40 nights. But some scientists have another theory altogether and this week an expedition will leave for the Black Sea to try to prove it.

Archaeologists said yesterday they have discovered the remains of a man-made structure more than 300 feet below the surface of the Black Sea, providing dramatic new evidence of an apocalyptic flood 7,500 years ago that may have inspired the Biblical story of Noah.

Note to the Reader: An irony here is that Christians do not (at least they shouldn't) need proof that the ark existed to believe it existed--and on the other hand even if non-believers could take a tour inside they still wouldn't believe! These articles don't prove that the ark is on Mount Ararat--what they're seeing could be something else entirely--but it sure is interesting.

At the end of the hundred and fifty days the water had gone down, and on the seventeenth day of the seventh month the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat. Genesis 8

DigitalGlobe's QuickBird commercial remote sensing satellite imaged the Mt. Ararat "anomaly" in 2003. This image has never seen by the public until now. The anomaly is surrounded below by very rugged-looking strato-volcanic rock; however, the texture of the feature in question is relatively smooth and appears to be made of a different substance.

Army officer stationed in Iran in 1943 thinks he's found the landing place of Noah's Ark in mountainous region. Despite popular speculation that Noah's Ark rests on Turkey's Mount Ararat, there are a few believers seeking elsewhere. Specifically, Iran.

In 1918-1919 H.R. Hall excavated at Ur, Eridu, and 'Ubaid. These are sites South of modern Baghdad, Iraq. In turn, Hall's findings stimulated interest in those sites. Then in 1922 Dr. G.B. Gordon proposed a joint University of Pennsylvania/British Museum Expedition to resume Hall's work.

While these articles provide some fascinating evidence to support the Genesis Flood, we don't agree with Dr. Ellul's conclusion that the flood covered most of the known world rather than the entire world--as we believe Genesis teaches it did.
