Reclaiming Biblical Jerusalem

The world of archeology is rocked by evidence of King David’s palace unearthed in Jerusalem.

by Rachel Ginsberg

How Jewish is Jerusalem?

You might think that’s a silly question, but in the world of academia, revisionist history and even biblical archaeology, scholars have cast the shadow of doubt over Judaism’s intrinsic connection to Jerusalem.

The Moslem Waqf, the religious authority that administers the Temple Mount — the site of Judaism’s First and Second Temples — has been claiming for years that there was never a temple there. But the idea that Israel is the historic homeland of the Jewish people and Jerusalem its holy capital has been under attack from far more reputable sources in recent decades as well.

For a growing number of academics and intellectuals, King David and his united kingdom of Judah and Israel, which has served for 3,000 years as an integral symbol of the Jewish nation, is simply a piece of fiction. The biblical account of history has been dismissed as unreliable by a cadre of scholars, some of whom have an overtly political agenda, arguing that the traditional account was resurrected by the Zionists to justify dispossessing Palestinian Arabs.

The most outspoken of these is Keith Whitelam of the Copenhagen School which promotes an agenda of “biblical minimalism,” whose best-known work is The Invention of Ancient Israel: The Silencing of Palestinian History. Finkelstein claims that the myth of King David was the creation of a cult of priests trying to create for themselves a glorious history.Even in Israel, this new school has found its voice.

Israel Finkelstein, chairman of Tel Aviv University’s Department of Archaeology, began championing a theory several years ago that the biblical accounts of Jerusalem as the seat of a powerful, unified monarchy under the rule of David and Solomon are essentially false.

The scientific methods for his assumptions, called a “lower dating” which essentially pushes archaeological evidence into a later century and thus erases all evidence of a Davidic monarchy, were laughed off by traditional archaeologists. But his book, The Bible Unearthed, wound up on the New York Times’ best-seller list and he became the darling of a sympathetic media.

He concluded that David and Solomon, if they existed at all, were merely “hill-country chieftains” and Jerusalem a poor, small tribal village. He claims that the myth of King David was the creation of a cult of priests trying to create for themselves a glorious history.

Looking in the Wrong Place

But the debunkers of Jewish biblical history got some bad news recently, when a spunky, dedicated archaeologist began her latest dig. Dr. Eilat Mazar, world authority on Jerusalem’s past, has taken King David out of the pages of the Bible and put him back into living history. Mazar’s latest excavation in the City of David, in the southern shadow of the Temple Mount, has shaken up the archaeological world. For lying undisturbed for over 3,000 years is a massive building which Mazar believes is King David’s palace.

For Mazar, 48, one of the world’s leading authorities on the archaeology of ancient Jerusalem and head archaeologist of the Shalem Center Institute of Archaeology, the discovery was the culmination of years of effort and solid speculation. From the time she was a teenager, she had her nose in archaeology literature, and worked closely with her grandfather, renowned archaeologist Benjamin Mazar, who conducted the southern wall excavations next to the Western Wall.

She holds a doctorate in archaeology from Hebrew University, is author of The Complete Guide to the Temple Mount Excavations, and in the 1970s and ’80s worked on the digs supervised by Yigal Shilo in the City of David. The significant discoveries made then, including a huge wall called the “stepped-stone structure” — which Shilo believed was a retaining wall for David’s royal palace or part of the Jebusite fortress he conquered — ignited Mazar to continue to look for the prize: David’s palace itself.

Some biblical scholars gave up looking for the palace because, according to Mazar, they were looking in the wrong place. Scholars searched for remains of the palace within the walls of the ancient Jebusite city that David conquered and called Ir David (City of David). This city, while heavily fortified with both natural and man-made boundaries, was also very small, just nine acres in size. When no evidence of such a majestic palace as the Bible describes was found there, the next step was to claim that David’s monarchy never really existed.

But Mazar always suspected that the palace was outside the original city, and cites the Bible to prove it. When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed, they went on the attack to apprehend him. This occurred after he conquered the Fortress of Zion, which was the actual nucleus of the city, and built his palace. The Bible says that David heard about it and “descended to the fortress,” (2-Samuel 5:17), implying that he went down from his palace, which was higher up on the mountain than the citadel/city.

Mazar told Aish.com: “I always asked myself: Down from where? It must have been from his palace on top of the hill, outside the original Jebusite city.”

Mazar says she was confident in her assessment of where the palace would be. What she discovered was a section of massive wall running about 100 feet from west to east along the length of the excavation (underneath what until this summer was the Ir David Visitors Center), and ending with a right-angle corner that turns south and implies a very large building.

Scientist, Not Philosopher

Within the dirt fill between the stones were found pottery shards dating to the 11th century BCE, the time when David established his monarchy. Based on biblical text and historic evidence, Mazar assumed that David would have built his palace outside the walls of the fortified but cramped Jebusite city which existed up to 2,000 years before; and in fact, the structure is built on the summit of the mountain, directly on bedrock along the city’s northern edge, with no archaeological layers beneath it — a sign that the structure constituted a new, northward expansion of the city’s northern limit.

“I was shocked at how easy it was to uncover it, and how well-preserved it was, as if it were just waiting 3,000 years for us to find it.” What most amazed Mazar was how close the building is to the surface — just one to two meters underground. “The cynics kept saying, ‘there will be so many layers, so many remnants of other cultures, it’s not worth digging, it’s too far down.’ I was shocked at how easy it was to uncover it, and how well-preserved it was, as if it were just waiting 3,000 years for us to find it,” Mazar said.

Our contention; there never were primitive humans. Neither do we accept the evolutionary timescale suggested here. We note however, that where ever you find human artifacts that they are consistent with intelligence and that the most cherished mythology of the evolution paradigm continues to get knocked down. Might even intelligent people have made use of the technology available to them?….s8int.com

It wasn’t supposed to happen like this.

Two years ago a team of U.S. and Greek archaeologists were combing a gorge on the island of Crete (map) in Greece, hoping to find tiny stone tools employed by seafaring people who had plied nearby waters some 11,000 years ago.

Instead, in the midst of the search, Providence College archaeologist Thomas Strasser and his team came across a whopping surprise—a sturdy 5-inch-long (13-centimeter-long) hand ax.

Knapped from a cobble of local quartz stone, the rough-looking tool resembled hand axes discovered in Africa and mainland Europe and used by human ancestors until about 175,000 years ago. This stone tool technology, which could have been useful for smashing bones and cutting flesh, had been relatively static for over a million years.

Crete has been surrounded by vast stretches of sea for some five million years. The discovery of the hand ax suggests that people besides technologically modern humans—possibly Homo heidelbergensis—island-hopped across the Mediterranean tens of thousands of millennia earlier than expected.

Many researchers have hypothesized that the early humans of this time period were not capable of devising boats or navigating across open water. But the new discoveries hint that these human ancestors were capable of much more sophisticated behavior than their relatively simple stone tools would suggest.

“I was flabbergasted,” said Boston University archaeologist and stone-tool expert Curtis Runnels. “The idea of finding tools from this very early time period on Crete was about as believable as finding an iPod in King Tut’s tomb.”

Antique Primate (Giant Human) Leg Bone Fossil “290 Million Years Old” on EBAY: Minimum Bid; $2,000,000

Feb 16 2010

I recently heard from Mr. Ed Conrad, a retired Pennsylvania news reporter and long time resident of Shenandoah Penn. an area only a couple of miles away from Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania coal mining operations.

Mr. Conrad’s discoveries were among those that first got me interested in the “ooparts” phenomenon. The items he has found embedded in Carboniferous materials like coal, anthracite and slate are according to modern geology, 290 million to a billion years old. The femur pictured here and now available on EBAY must have come from an individual just over 8 feet tall–and it is a part of the rock!

The objects Mr. Conrad has found near his home over the years have made him a controversial figure on the internet and has made him a marked man. He did receive some early scientific support but because of his finds, his assertions about them and now a scientific report supporting his claims he has been banned from TalkOrigins (an evolution website) and is being ignored by the science establishment.

As I understand Ed’s position, he accepts the current paradigm’s dating system which would mean that man is 300 million to a billion years old. Here at s8int.com, we believe that these types of rocks, including coal, all formed within the last several thousand years. A recent Blog post Here recalled an article from 1876 where miners and scientists watched anthracite coal form in a long pipe inside a coal mine in only four months.

For those of you who want to argue that maybe or definitely it is not human–that doesn’t matter; if it’s a primate bone its still 200 hundred million plus years too early for current evolutionary theory.

Lin Liangtai from Taiwan eventually contacted Mr. Conrad and performed a number of scientific analyses on twenty or more objects.

A Study on a Carboniferous Human Femur Fossil
Last updated: Feb. 8, 2010
By Lin Liangtai
Abstract

Mr. Ed Conrad, the discoverer of the subject material, has claimed he has found thousands of “fossils” in the Mahanoy City and Shenandoah region of Pennsylvania, USA. Before this study, the author has studied over 20 different specimens of those “fossils” and found they are all animal fossils, including a petrified human calvarium, well preserved down to the microscopic level.

The subject material was still partially embedded in an immense piece of slate in the Carboniferous rock layer when it was first photographed. The author found it was a fossil because it contained Haversian canals, which are found only in animals’ compact bones.

It belonged to a mammal because it possessed plentiful remains of scarlet, round, anucleate and concave cells, which were red blood cells found only in mammals. It is a fossilized human femur bone because it displays the following features: (1) It is nearly straight, round and quite slender; (2) Its maximum length is estimated to be 52 centimeters while its mid-shaft is 3.3 centimeters in diameter; (3) Its mid-shaft diameter is less than 6.36% of its maximum length. Only human femur bones match all above features. The author has searched various fossil records and data banks, but found no other mammals, extinct or extant, possessed a bone that meets all the three features at the same time. So, it was a femur of a Carboniferous mammal with a human calvarium.

Introduction

The author found on the internet a photograph showing an object claimed to be a Carboniferous human femur fossil embedded in slate near Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania. As the discoverer of the object did not present detailed evidences for his claim, the author contacted the discoverer and asked for a specimen of the object in order to examine it in details.

Photo:Right. Annotated femur photo. Click to enlarge.

The discoverer sent one half of the object to the author by post for study (Fig.1-2-2). Before this study, the discoverer has claimed to have discovered thousands of Carboniferous animal –some human–fossils in the same area in the past 28 years (note 1). The author has studied over 20 different specimens of those objects and found they are all animal fossils, including a petrified human calvarium ( Article 1) (note 2), all preserved down to the microscopic level (Fig. 0-1, Fig. 0-2).

Material and Methods

(A) Material found in situ

The object (Fig.1-1-1)was discovered in situ by Mr. Ed Conrad, who had lived in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, USA for over 30 years. He discovered the subject material over 20 years ago in the suburb of Mahanoy City ( Note 3, Fig. 5-1-3), a few kilometers from Shenandoah, where he lived. When he first discovered the “femur fossil”, it was still partially embedded in a rock, which he claimed had been dumped there by a coal mining company during surface-mining operations.

He took three pictures of the object before removing it from the surrounding rock. A veteran Pennsylvania policeman, who is a polygraph expert, conducted three polygraph examinations on its discoverer and issued three examination reports (Fig.8-4-1, Fig.8-4-2, Note 2).The reports prove the discoverer showed “no deception” when asked if he found the majority of the questioned objects in the Mahanoy City/Shenandoah region (note 4).

The discoverer couldn’t have been confused about the location where he discovered thousands of fossils, as he lived within two miles of the location and passed by the location for thousands of times.

Mr. Ed Conrad advised the author in writing that the object was 17.5 inches long while still embedded in rock.To demonstrate its length, he put a measuring tape and a 16-inch educational model of human femur beside the object before he took the three pictures of the object. According to the geological map published by the Pennsylvania state government, the area around Shenandoah and Mahanoy City is situated on the rock layer of the Carboniferous age.

The Pennsylvania state government’s geological unit also confirmed in writing to the author that fossils discovered in those areas are all 307 (+/- 5) million years old. Figures 1-1-1 to 1-1-4 show the object was partially embedded in the rock. This point was supported by visual examination of the object’s surfaces, as the object’s under-ground surface had turned into black coal while its above-ground surface did not turn into black coal (Figure 1-3-2).

Material received for study:

The specimen received by the author measures 22 centimeter long and 3.3 centimeter in diameter at the mid-shaft (Fig. 5-2-3, Fig. 2-3-5). The author had the specimen that he received from the discoverer cut at the mid-shaft for the specimen’s transverse section by Mr. Liang at the Department of Geology, National Taiwan University. The transverse section was further cut into two equal parts and ground into two thin sections (Fig. 2-4-1), which were then covered with glass slides for viewing under light microscopes. The two thin sections are never stained with chemicals to change their original colors. Later, the specimen was cut again transversely at mid-shaft and another sample was obtained for viewing with Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The SEM sample was ground and coated with a thin layer of wax as required for SEM viewing. For orientation purpose, the SEM sample was marked by the author with a felt pen and a diamond-tipped pen. The SEM sample and the two thin sections were variously viewed with a stereomicroscope, a digital microscope, a transmitted-light microscope, and SEM (Hitachi S3400).

Images were captured with a camera (Canon EOS 350D), SEM (Hitachi S3400), or a digital microscope itself. Finally, the specimen was sent to Alberta Research Council (in Canada) for three-dimensional scanning with their Computed-Tomography imaging system. All figures mentioned in this article are displayed and explained in an on-line album at: this location

“Oh What A Tangled Web We Weave, When At First We Practice to Deceive”–Alleged 165 Million Year Old Spider Looks Just Like 165 Day Old Spider

Genesis 1:24
Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind: cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth after their kind”; and it was so.

If evolutionists had a long list of transitional fossils (or even a short list) that they could point to that proved that the living creatures on this planet were “evolving”, then frequently discovering fossils that obviously were unchanged –though supposedly millions of years old would not be so problematic for them.

We’ve written here about the unchanged “95 million year old octopi”, and the fossil lamprey, allegedly 360 million years old which was identical in every respect to “modern” lampreys, and the alleged 150 million year old squid that was also identical to “modern” squids. So, if we have no transitional fossils and we have a surfeit of ancient bees that were bees and ants that were ants and spiders that were; spiders etc. etc. why would anyone believe that Darwinism is true?

Photo: Gould; saying more stuff “out of context”?

It was famous Darwinist Stephen Jay Gould who said “the lack of transitional fossils is the trade secret of paleontology”.

I have to tell you that evolutionists will do a spit take if you say that there are no transitional fossils–but they become downright upset and angry if you go to the Stephen Jay Gould quote. “You’re quoting him out of context they shout”, (or type), ironically, looking just like angry men have always looked from the time of Adam. (They’re unchanged just like spiders and bees.)

Can you imagine a scenario wherein Gould was not really trying to say that there were not a lot of transitional fossils around and that this information was not something generally known? Maybe he was just quoting the lines from some unknown B Movie?

Colin Patterson, another prominent evolutionist, formerly a senior paleontologist at the British Museum of Natural History and author of the book “Evolution” said the following re: transitional fossils and his understanding of what Gould and some of his associate paleontologists meant by the “lack of transitional fossils”

Photo:Evolution 2nd Edition; Now without transitional fossils! (Previously without transitional fossils).

In a letter to an evolutionist who had complained about the lack of drawings of these whimsical creatures (transitional ones) in Patterson’s book; Evolution, Patterson responded;

“I fully agree with your comments on the lack of direct illustration of evolutionary transitions in my book. If I knew of any, fossil or living, I would certainly have included them. You suggest that an artist should be used to visualise such transformations, but where would he get the information from? I could not, honestly, provide it…

Gradualism is a concept I believe in, not just because of Darwin’s authority, but because my understanding of genetics seems to demand it. Yet Gould and the American Museum people are hard to contradict when they say there are no transitional fossils..”

Indeed they are Colin! (he’s passed on)

Re: the subject at hand; scientists have discovered the very well preserved fossil of a spider which they claim is 165 million years old. Was it some kind of “pre-spider”? Something very primitive in the spider line with you know; stooped shoulders, a prominent forehead and copius hair? We know from years of indoctrination that these are the qualities that make a creature primitive.

Nope! According to the article:

E. gertschi shows all the features of the modern members of the family, found in North America, suggesting it has evolved very little since the Jurassic period, Selden said.

“The scimitar-shaped structure you notice out of the male is so distinctive,” he said. “Looking at modern ones, you think, well, it’s just a dead ringer.”

Taking Abortion One Step Further In the Name of Science? Founders of British Obstetrics ‘Were Callous Murderers’?

Church of Darwin, Science, Uncategorized, Unexplained Artifact | Posted by Chris Parker

William Hunter and William Smellie commissioned a regular supply of corpses so they could study the physical effects of pregnancy, argues a respected historian

Denis Campbell, health correspondent The Observer, Sunday 7 February 2010

They are giants of medicine, pioneers of the care that women receive during childbirth and were the founding fathers of obstetrics. The names of William Hunter and William Smellie still inspire respect among today’s doctors, more than 250 years since they made their contributions to healthcare. Such were the duo’s reputations as outstanding physicians that the clienteles of their private practices included the rich and famous of mid-18th-century London.

But were they also serial killers? New research published in the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine (JRSM) claims that they were. A detailed historical study accuses the doctors of soliciting the killing of dozens of women, many in the latter stages of pregnancy, to dissect their corpses.

“Smellie and Hunter were responsible for a series of 18th-century ‘burking’ murders of pregnant women, with a death total greater than the combined murders committed by Burke and Hare and Jack the Ripper,” writes Don Shelton, a historian. “Burking” involved murdering people to order, usually for medical research.

According to Shelton, the two men were between them responsible for the murders of 35-40 pregnant women and their unborn children.

Acting separately, and using henchmen to deliver their supply, they organised a killing spree in London between 1749 and 1755 and, after a period of inactivity enforced by mounting suspicion about the source of their corpses, resumed between 1764 and 1774.

Motivated by ego, personal rivalry and a shared desire to benefit from being acclaimed as the foremost childbirth doctors of their time, Hunter and Smellie sacrificed life after life in their quests to study pregnancy’s physical effects and to develop new techniques, the author says. “Although it sounds absolutely incredible, the circumstantial literary evidence suggests they were most likely competing with each other in experimenting with secret caesarean sections on unconscious, or freshly murdered, victims, with a view to extracting and reviving the babies,” Shelton told the Observer.

Shelton examined the men’s anatomical atlases, containing detailed images of pregnant women who had been opened up, and medical literature and the causes of death in London at the time. Glasgow’s Hunterian museum and gallery is named after Scottish-born Hunter, who in 1762 became physician to Queen Charlotte, wife of George III. He helped her to deliver the future king, George IV.

Smellie, a fellow Scot, is no less distinguished. From Witchcraft to Wisdom, a textbook on the history of obstetric and gynaecological medicine, hails him as “the greatest obstetrician in the history of British obstetrics”. He has also been called “the father of British midwifery”.

Shelton, though, regards the duo as on a par with Burke and Hare, who murdered 17 citizens of Edinburgh in 1827 and 1828, selling their remains to a local anatomist. The London of Hunter and Smellie’s time was unhealthy and semi-anarchic, and early death from disease was widespread, as was grave robbing.

In his JRSM paper, Shelton claims to prove that the rival doctors could not have obtained their supply of corpses by any other means than murder. It was rare for mothers-to-be to die or be murdered soon before they were due to give birth, says the historian. People from poorhouses who died were usually old, unwell or children. Thus the grave robbers of the time could not have fulfilled the obstetricians’ need for such a specific type of female, concludes Shelton.

Each used an assistant to commission killers, he says, naming Dr Colin Mackenzie as Smellie’s accomplice and John Hunter – William’s brother, who was a celebrated anatomist – as his helper. Young women from the countryside were apparently favourite targets in a city where plenty of people “disappeared”.

“There is great suspicion about the abundance of undelivered ninth-month corpses procured, dissected and depicted in the anatomical atlases of Smellie and Hunter,” writes Shelton. “The impossibility of supply from random resurrections, taken with a careful analysis of events, and of 18th-century medical literature, shows compelling evidence for burking.”

By 1755 rumours were circulating that the women in Smellie’s journal had been murdered, and associates began pressing him on their origins. “As a result Smellie and Hunter both halted their research, both presumably fearing trial and execution,” although Hunter – who used his links to powerful families to ensure no investigation was ever undertaken – resumed ordering murders, about once a year, in 1764, Shelton adds.

Anthony Kenny, a gynaecologist in London for 40 years until his retirement in 2007, said: “These two guys are my heroes. The idea that they could have been involved in the murder of subjects is absolutely staggering.” Kenny is now the curator of the museum of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. “They were the first proper obstetricians in the country because of their pioneering work practising what was then still a new branch of medicine.”

While Kenny describes Shelton’s paper as “extremely impressive” in its research, he cannot believe that his heroes were guilty of such terrible crimes. The trade in corpses was very lucrative and probably attracted unsavoury, unscrupulous characters, he pointed out. “And it could be that they didn’t make proper inquiries as to the origins of the bodies, and so may not have known that the women were murdered.”

Ludmilla Jordanova, a professor of modern history at King’s College London who specialises in the history of medicine, says Shelton’s assertion that Hunter and Smellie could not have come across so many dead pregnant women from any other source as “a striking claim. Important research… is revealing the complexities of anatomical activities in 18th-century London. This is an exciting and controversial area of historical investigation, and it invites more meticulous research and judicious research.”

Shelton says his research “turned out to be a bit like a thinking person’s Da Vinci Code, but in this case involving facts, not fiction. Although the conclusion of burking is shocking, to quote Sherlock Holmes, ‘When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, is the truth.’”

From Soup to; “Nuts?!” New Research Rejects 80-Year Theory of ‘Primordial Soup’ as the Origin of Life

Feb 04 2010

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1

Photo: This Primordial Soup is no longer “just right”!

ScienceDaily (Feb. 3, 2010) — “For 80 years it has been accepted that early life began in a ‘primordial soup’ of organic molecules before evolving out of the oceans millions of years later.

Today the ‘soup’ theory has been over turned in a pioneering paper in BioEssays which claims it was the Earth’s chemical energy, from hydrothermal vents on the ocean floor, which kick-started early life.”

For 80 years this dumb theory has appeared in virtually every science textbook, has been haughtily repeated in every creation evolution discussion and has been an article of faith in the Materialist’s gospel. Just over a year ago for example Times Online’s Kate Muir wrote basically a love letter about the world’s most famous Atheist, Richard Dawkins, entitled; Richard Dawkin’s Knocks Creationist’s Into the Primordial Soup”. An excerpt:

“The marginalisation of academia is partly self-created by its pomp and obfuscatory language. Dawkins broke out of the ghetto long ago thanks not just to an extraordinary mind, but to a gift for elegant communication and controversy: the English-language version of his recent paean to atheism, The God Delusion, has sold 1.5million copies (it has been translated into 31 other languages).

He is big in airport bookshops. In 1976, when his first book, The Selfish Gene, was published, The New York Times explained the mind-expanding pleasure of his science-lit as “the sort of popular science writing that makes the reader feel like a genius”.

“In these barren, thoughtless times, Dawkins gives people something substantial to chew on. His audience is surprisingly grateful, and also relieved to see someone slapping creationists about and tossing them into the primordial soup, as well as explaining atheism positively.”

Clearly, those who “worship the creature rather than the Creator” (Romans 1) never expected their soup to be spilled by their own congregates–other evolutionary believers. Evolutionists are nothing if not resilient however and will simply adapt the new view in their papers, debates and popularizing science books going forward.

So will they now haughtily decree that life began in hydrothermal vents on the ocean floor as if that was what they had been preaching all along? Not necessarily! On ScienceDaily’s page announcing this twist in the life origin paradigm are links to related articles;

Clay Material May Have Acted As ‘Primordial Womb’ For First Organic Molecules
Diamonds May Have Been Life’s Best Friend On Primordial Earth
Did Comets Contain Key Ingredients For Life On Earth?

Another radical “scientific” theory by Dr Michael Russell of the Scottish Environmental Research Centre in Glasgow, claims that living systems originated from inorganic incubators – small compartments in iron sulphide rocks.

University of Missouri-Columbia researcher Rainer Glaser posits that; life exists on Earth because of a delicate combination of chemical ingredients. Using a theoretical model, Glaser hypothesizes the existence of adenine in interstellar dust clouds. Those same clouds, he thinks may have showered a young Earth with adenine as it began cooling billions of years ago….Physorg.com

Of course, there is Richard’s Dawkin’s preferred alternative; that life on earth was simply “seeded” by Aliens… (youtube video link)

People like Kate Muir, no doubt are excited by the possibilities that this brazen lack of scientific knowledge creates for future articles; “Dawkins Knocks Creationists into Hydrothermal Vents in the Ocean Floor”; Dawkin’s Knocks Creationist’s onto Diamonds” or even “Dawkin’s Knocks Creationists into Alien Spaceship”!

Atheists don’t have any real idea how life began–they are however unshakeable in their belief that God didn’t do it.

3) An Extraordinary Discovery. The Remains of an Icelandic Woman, Buried in 1051, with Trinkets, Roman Coins, etc., Exhumed Below the Great Falls of the Potamac_A Remarkable Runic Inscription—America Discovered by the Irish……..The Chicago Tribune, July 16, 1867

Clearly, everyone discovered America! The Africans (Olmecs) the East Asians, the Irish, the Chinese and of course the Vikings have all been said to have discovered America before Columbus in 1492. All those candidates ignore the fact that apparently when America was discovered–there were people here already!

Still, there appear to be enough proofs that this Christian woman lived on the continent 1,000 years ago to make one wonder why her story didn’t appear in any history books?

“From the article;

Permit me through your columns to publish the details of the discovery near the city of Washington, of the remains of an Icelandic Christian woman , who died in the year 1051, and of the inscription in the Runic characters which mark her grave, the announcement of which has already sped by telegraph through the New World to the Old—to publish a fact which materially affects the history of the discovery of America by Europeans, by adding one more proof to the many now generally received by historians, of the extraordinary voyages of the adventurous Northmen, without compass or quadrant, to the eastern coast of this continent, five centuries before the landing of Columbus…..”

The author recounts many other proofs of Icelandic/Northmen incursions into America and gives the location of the gravestone in extraordinary detail. He translates the inscription, which he has named ‘the white shirt inscription” as follows;

“Here rests Syasy, (or Suasu) the fair-haired, a person from the east of Iceland, the widow of Kjoldr, and sister of Thorgy, children of the same father…..twenty-five years of age. May God make glad her soul. 1051”

The author Thomas Raffinnson, of the Royal Society of Northern Antiquities then goes into great detail concerning the inscriptions themselves and about the human remains, trinkets and Roman coins found at that site.

He indicates at the article’s end that the reamins and trinkets along with detailed drawings of the inscription had been forwarded to the Smithsonian……

4)Giant Ancient Miners? Relics of Ancient Miners

Bruce Herald, May 16, 1902 Archaeologists were “much interested” in some old tools found at an abandoned, ancient coal mine near Edinburgh. During operations by the Weymess Coal Company and old unused pit was discovered that held among other items some ancient tools.

The discoverers were amazed at the size of some huge blocks of coal that had been cut out with a pick and wondered how the ancient miners had been able to cut blocks so large. Some of the tools found were made of wood.

The huge blocks had been cut out with picks—the handles of which were as large in thickness and in length as the props used at that time to prop up the roof as they went in current mining operations.

Who were these giant miners? One giant man might be a “freak of nature” but apparently due to the size of the cut blocks of coal and the incredible size of certain tools such as the pick axe, it was apparently a common size of the miner of that era and location..
