As for the sceptics out there, many of them wouldn”t admit that there was evidence that man and dinosaur co-existed even if one of those dinosaurs bit them in the ………

Here at, we’ve put up over 80 pages in our Dinosaurs in Literature, History and Art Section to prove that quite clearly, dinosaurs and man interacted in what we call ancient history. The photo of yet another appears below. Still the sceptics (or skeptics) insist that there has been no such demonstration. Did dinosaurs and man miss each other by millions of years or were they contemporaries as the Bible claims, all made during the first week of creation?

Our assumption; if the Bible is true, then one should find proof in the form of ancient literature and in ancient art. If dinosaurs were seen by man, (even if they weren’t called dinosaurs) they certainly would have made an impression in their time. As it turns out, all such evidence has been ignored, handled, belittled, debunked or mythologized a process that continues to this day.

Those who know that the Bible is right and that the Bible is true will simply keep piling up the evidence. It’s not our job or role to make someone believe. As the Bible says;

“The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. “….Romans 1

The La Paz Archeological Museum Tyrannosaurus Rex

Right. A figurine in the Collection of the National Archaeological Museum, La Paz, Bolivia. This obscure figure is part of the Museum’s collection of Bronze Inca figures, mummies and a monolith are among the artifacts from the Tiwanaku and Inca cultures housed in this museum. These artifacts are pre-Colombian (prior to 1492) and are from cultures spanning the period 300 B.C. to that time.

Tiwanaku (Tiahuanaco) is thought to be one of the oldest cities in the world and the Andes mountain area near Tiwanaku has been the source of many artifacts depicting dinosaurs.

The T-Rex; The Official Story

“Tyrannosaurus, meaning ‘tyrant lizard’) is a genus of theropod dinosaur. The famous species Tyrannosaurus rex (‘rex’ meaning ‘king’ in Latin), commonly abbreviated to T. rex, is a fixture in popular culture around the world. It lived throughout what is now western North America, with a much wider range than other tyrannosaurids.

Fossils of T. rex are found in a variety of rock formations dating to the last three million years of the Cretaceous Period, approximately 68 to 65 million years ago; it was among the last non-avian dinosaurs to exist prior to the Cretaceous–Tertiary extinction event.

Photo:A pair of Andean dinosaurs from the Museum of Archeology, LA PAZ (Tiwanaku (724-1200 A.D.)

Like other tyrannosaurids, Tyrannosaurus was a bipedal carnivore with a massive skull balanced by a long, heavy tail. Relative to the large and powerful hindlimbs, Tyrannosaurus forelimbs were small, though unusually powerful for their size, and bore two clawed digits”..Wikipedia

Although a tail is not visible, the skull; wide at the rear but narrow at the snout; the unmistakeable deep eye sockets; the thick neck and shoulders (shoulder shape); the small hands compared to the legs; the fact that this depicts a bi-pedal reptile–these all make the identification of this artifact as a stylized representation of a theropod dinosaur (like t-rex), certain.

Clearly, these dinosaurs lived and were seen by the artist who cast this figurine.

We previously blogged about the discovery of a human print which had been stepped upon by a dinosaur leaving a record in stone of both prints.

“In early July, 2000 Alvis Delk, assisted by James Bishop (both of Stephenville, Texas), was working in the Cretaceous limestone on the McFall property at the Paluxy River near Glen Rose, Texas and discovered a pristine human footprint intruded by a dinosaur footprint.”

That Prior Blog Post can be found here (Click here)

This video records the scientific analysis of the prints (series of medical x-rays) that indicates that both are genuine.

The Pyramidal Hills of Luoping, China

Photo by George Steinmetz for Nat Geo. “Blooming fields of rapeseed plants weave around hills near Luoping in Yunnan Province”.

If nothing else, pictures of the vast rapeseed fields of Luoping, China make beautiful photographs. We however were immediately struck by the large number of triangular “hills” that dot the fields for some distance. Despite all our research, we could find no direct discussion of the hills–at all. How old are they? How did they get there?

No doubt, the explanation for the hills is an unremarkable one and no doubt, archeologists would say that they are natural–if they were in any way anomalous. Provided for your viewing pleasure…s8intcom

Luoping, Yunnan

Photo: Edwin Cheng

“Luoping is a small county in Yunnan located about 228 kilometers north east of Kunming. It is located close to the border of Yunnan with Guizhou and Guangxi provinces. The town was often overlooked by tourists passing through the region until recently. It had become a Mecca for photographers, who flock to this small county every early spring to capture the magnificent “sea of yellow” of blooming rapeseed flowers. The majestic photos in turn, draw more and more tourists to this beautiful rural photographic haven.

In early spring, the sprawling farmlands in Luoping are covered in golden, yellow rapeseed flowers stretching as far as the eyes can see, all the way to the horizon. The blooming buds fill the air with the refreshing smell of spring that not only attracts human, but also bees. The beauty of the yellow sea of rapeseed flowers swaying in slow swirling waves in the gentle breeze is a sight that is out of this world.

Rapeseed flowers are planted to harvest cooking oil from their seeds after the flowers had withered after their colorful bloom. They are planted all over China but bloom at different times of the year, depending on the temperature of the locations. The rapeseed farms in Luoping are among the largest scale in China. They are normally the “first-off-the-block” every year, followed by those in Guizhou and other provinces.

It is also the season for beekeeping and honey processing. Beekeepers set up base in tents amongst the rapeseed farms every spring to keep bees and harvest their honey- the bees feed on the rapeseed flowers. Hence most rapeseed farms are also abuzz with bees in the spring and can be a little irritating. These beekeepers move on to other locations within Luoping after the rapeseed season, using wildflowers as feedstock for their bees.”……

Miss California: I stand by Gay Marriage Remark

Church of Darwin, Religious, Uncategorized | Posted by Chris Parker
Apr 21 2009

Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.

The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman, for she was taken out of man.” For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. …Genesis 2

By Michael Inbar, MSNBC.COM contributor

April 21, 2009
Being a straight shooter likely shot down any chance Carrie Prejean had of being crowned Miss USA Sunday night. But the Miss California told TODAY Tuesday she’s proud she offered her honest opinion on gay marriage, even as her questioner says she should have kept her politics to herself.

“I’m so proud of myself,” Prejean told Matt Lauer live on the TODAY set. “I wouldn’t change a thing. I knew I had a purpose, and I don’t take back what I said.”

The often bland goings-on at the annual Miss USA pageant took on a decidedly heated political tone when openly gay celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, a pageant judge, asked Prejean: “Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same-sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit? Why or why not?”

Beauty and the blogger
Prejean, then among the final five contestants for the coveted crown, replied, “In my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised and that’s how I think it should be — between a man and a woman.”

Prejean’s pointed response raised eyebrows, but didn’t raise her enough votes to put a crown on her head. Judge Claudia Jordan told NBC, “The judges were really against her, they were bothered by her answer.”

Still, Prejean finished first runner-up to Miss North Carolina, Kristen Dalton.

With Prejean saying that she likely would have won had she not spoken so forthrightly, Hilton told TODAY he was “offended that she is still walking around saying that she should have won the pageant.” And he told Lauer Tuesday via Skype that Prejean had no business offering such an obviously divisive answer to a question she could have easily danced around.

“I want [a Miss USA] who is going to be politically savvy, and that means saying things that will make everyone feel welcome,” Hilton told Lauer. “She’s a Christian, but I don’t want her talking about Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, because that’s offensive to all of the Jewish Americans, all the Muslim Americans, to all the atheist Americans.

“It’s about balance, it’s about finding the perfect Miss USA, and unfortunately, Miss California was not the perfect Miss USA,” Hilton continued. “I would have appreciated it had she left her politics and her religion out, because Miss USA represents all Americans.”

Sticking to her stand
Prejean found herself in the unlikely position of being a divider, not a uniter, at the NBC-televised pageant — her comments even spurred a dustup between a gay audience member and the mother of one of the contestants.

But she told Lauer she had her eyes wide open when responding to Hilton’s question, saying, “After I answered the question, I knew that I was not going to win because of my answer.”

When Lauer asked Prejean if, given a do-over, she might offer up a more middle-of-the-road response, she replied, “No, I wouldn’t have answered differently.

“It’s not about being politically correct; for me, it was being biblically correct,” Prejean explained. “When I’m asked a specific question, I’m going to give a specific answer. I’m not going to stand in the middle. I’m going to take one side or another.”

To thine own self be true
Lauer asked Hilton why he would offer up a political hot potato of a question in the first place, since the Miss USA pageant usually has judges asking questions that allow the contestants to pray for world peace and tell how much they love puppies and kittens.

Hilton told Lauer he believes his question “was very relevant and extremely important,” and noted other contestants, including the eventual winner, were also posed pointed political questions.

Prejean now finds herself in the unlikely position of actually gaining more fame than the new Miss USA, Kristen Dalton of North Carolina. And she told Lauer she plans to use her newfound bully pulpit to encourage others to speak their minds.

“I was true to myself, and I know now I can go out and speak to young people about standing up for what you believe in and never compromising anything, for anyone or anything, even if it is the crown of Miss USA,” Prejean said.

The Incredible Creation Inch and Other ‘True” Stories, Science, Uncategorized, Unexplained Artifact | Posted by Chris Parker
Apr 20 2009

by Chris Parker
CopyRight 2009

Actually, the incredible creation inch is an inch and a half. Still incredibly small he was, but given enough time and patience, he might have achieved a great deal. Clearly though, the incredible creation inch didn’t have as much time as some insisted that he did, so that in the end, his achievements are/were modest.

Before we complete the incredible inch’s tale though, let me tell you another.

Once upon a time a beautiful island was discovered in the middle of one of the great oceans. In the course of time, 9 very large, unique boulders were discovered to be distributed around the Island. The boulders were unique in part due to their great size, but also because they were of a type found no where else on the Island.

The indigenous people knew nothing of the great stones. The prevailing theory (the volcanic dispersion theory) became that the stones ended up where they were due to a titanic volcanic explosion in the distant past, which had been powerful enough to place the stones exactly where they rested.

Some scientists noted that the stones were not of a volcanic type, but the theory persisted.

Many years after the prevailing theory became set in stone, a scientist working alone discovered something startling about the great stones. He found that there was an underlying formula which predicted the placement of each of the stones exactly, most of them to four decimal places.

Given the distance of any one of the stones from a central point, the correct distance to any other stone could be derived by the formula and; given the distance between any two of the stones, the correct distance for the entire series of stones could be derived; exactly.

This of course meant that the placement of the stones was not random as one would expect if their final location on the island was really the result of an explosion. This meant that the volcanic explosion theory was invalid; incorrect. The scientist’s conclusions with respect to the placement of the great stones were eventually verified and found to be correct, although the actual intent of the various analyses had been to prove his findings to be wrong.

There was no theory explaining how rocks placed in an explosion could fall in such a way as to appear to have been placed.

It was a mystery; a genuine enigma, but the volcanic dispersion theory continued to hold. It continued to be taught in school and written about in textbooks. Research grants were applied for and received. The volcanic placement theory was the object of a number of doctoral theories which confirmed some aspect of or expanded the scope of the theory.

Accepting that the stones were placed in their positions would have invalidated work done with money from government grants. It would have impacted people in science who in one way or another had made their reputation on work done advancing the theory.

It would have meant reexamining the notion that the indigenous people were the first inhabitants of the Island-or it would have forced them to conclude that the indigenous people had higher technology in the distant past than they did currently. All of these potential outcomes were, for various reasons, unacceptable, so for years after “science” knew that the stones had to have been placed, the volcanic dispersion theory remained the accepted and “official” explanation. It still is today.

If you haven’t already guessed, the ocean is the universe; the island is our solar system and the “great stones“ are the planets orbiting our sun. The “volcanic dispersion theory” is the “big bang” theory. I don’t know who the indigenous people are in our story but the scientists are scientists.

Unlike the stones in our story, the planets move in an elliptical motion around the sun. When we speak of distance here we are speaking about their orbits. That the placement of the planets in out solar system is non-random has been known for more than 300 years.

The Titius-Bode Law:“Johann Titius, a German astronomer, discovered a numerical relationship describing the relative distances of the then-known planets from the sun. Another German astronomer, Johann Bode, popularized the relationship and, as is often the way of science, became associated with it. It is often called Bode’s law; occasionally, Titius-Bode law.

The semi major axes of the orbits of the planets follow the relationship: a = 0.4 + 0.3 x 2n where a is the semi major axis is astronomical units (AU) and the exponent, n, takes values minus infinity, 1,2,3, …

This was strictly a numerological relationship and, to this day, has resisted a compelling physical rationale. The value for n=3, 2.8 AU, corresponds to the location of the asteroid belt, and gives mild support for the hypothesis that the asteroids come from a failed or exploded planet.

The first test of the law occurred a few years later (1781) when William Herschel discovered Uranus — at the distance predicted by the relationship. Neptune, the next planet to be discovered, is much closer to the Sun than predicted by the law. Pluto occupies the n=8 position instead. Another oddity is that the first term in the relationship is minus infinity rather than, say, zero.

This suggests that the underlying physical law is somewhat different than the current form.
Recently, the first planets outside our Solar System have been discovered orbiting pulsars (the central stars of which are neutron stars). It appears that these planets also obey the Titius-Bode law. Some other solar systems don’t seem to follow this “law”, but only some of the planets in these systems have been discovered. It is interesting that this simple relationship has been known for over 300 years but still defies physical proof (or dis-proof).”

A number of people have refined this anomalous relationship between the planets of our solar system. G.E. Curtis is one who has been working on this enigma for some time. He concludes;

1) The major orbits of the Solar System are contained within, and interrelated by, the main equation.
2) The ratio b/a and of course B/A is equal to the orbit of Venus but is also determined by the orbit of Venus. This is not simply an approximation; it is accurate to five decimal places, and unique.
This ratio pervades the whole Solar System.
3) The equations are bi-directional, an inner orbit could be calculated from an outer orbit.
4) The orbits can be calculated from Pythagoras.
5) The orbits can be calculated with the use of trigonometry.
6) The implied triangles are all similar, and similar to a triangle constructed from Venus/Earth mean orbits.
7) Orbits can be calculated by adding and subtracting constants.
8) Equations allow orbital distances to be interchanged with orbital periods.
9) Any orbit can be calculated from any other, and all the orbits can be calculated from any two.

Table demonstrating how closely the real orbits conform to the mathematical pattern described in text.

10) The orbits can be calculated by a number of different routes from any datum orbits. Deviations from Norton’s data will vary very slightly depending on the route taken.

Taking all the above facts into consideration, it is difficult to maintain the notion that the Solar System originated solely by the action of gravity on a random distribution of dust particles.
The percentage variation column indicates that the prediction of the planets orbits versus the actual orbits are virtually identical.

This should not be the case if the big bang theory is correct and there is no physical law or gravity related theory which would explain this non-random planetary alignment.

The Incredible Creation Inch.

According to Cornell University’s “Ask an Astronomer” and other sources, the moon is moving away from the earth at a rate of approximately 1.5 inches per year. Among the various impacts of this occurrence, is that the earth’s rotation is imperceptibly slowing and days are becoming milliseconds longer.

The average distance between the earth and the moon is 238,855 miles. This means that the size of the incredible creation inch (1.5 inches 0)) is unimportant and too small to notice. In 6,000 years, an annual movement away from earth would only amount to 9,000 inches, or 750 feet. That kind of insignificant movement would no doubt have very little impact on the tides, for example.

But let’s see, there are those who say that the earth is much older than 6,000 years. In 1 million years, at the current rate of departure, the moon would move away approximately, 1.5 million inches, which is 125,000 feet or 23.67424 miles.

23.67 miles would seem to be, not trivial, but still nothing really to worry about moving the average distance from the earth to the moon out to 238,878.6742 miles.

In a billion years, those 1.5 inches a year would move the moon out 23,674.24 miles which is beginning to sound serious. The impact of a moon out 23,674 miles further from earth than where it had initially “settled” or been placed would be enormous.

But how old does science say that the earth is? Approximately 4.5 billion years old. That’s old!

The incredible creation inch says that in that time, the moon would have moved away from the earth 106,534.09 mile!. The incredible creation inch says that the moon earth system is way younger than 4.5 billion years. Perhaps something on the order of 10,000 years or less is called for, even if you think 1.5 inches a year is too high.

Praying to God is Like Talking to a Friend

And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,”and he was called God’s friend……James 2:23

IS PRAYER just another kind of friendly conversation?

Yes, says Uffe Schjødt, who used MRI to scan the brains of 20 devout Christians. “It’s like talking to another human. We found no evidence of anything mystical.”

Schjødt, of the University of Aarhus, Denmark, and colleagues, asked volunteers to carry out two tasks involving both religious and “secular” activities. In the first task, they silently recited the Lord’s Prayer, then a nursery rhyme. Identical brain areas, typically associated with rehearsal and repetition, were activated.

In the second, they improvised personal prayers before making requests to Santa Claus. Improvised prayers triggered patterns that match those seen when people communicate with each other, and activated circuitry that is linked with the theory of mind – an awareness that other individuals have their own independent motivations and intentions (Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience, DOI: 10.1093/scan/nsn050).

Two of the activated regions are thought to process desire and consider how another individual – in this case God – might react. Also activated were part of the prefrontal cortex linked to the consideration of another person’s intentions, and an area thought to help access memories of previous encounters with that person.

The prefrontal cortex is key to theory of mind. Crucially, this area was inactive during the Santa Claus task, suggesting volunteers viewed Santa as fictitious but God as a real individual.

Previous studies have found that the prefrontal cortex is not activated when people interact with inanimate objects, such as a computer game. “The brain doesn’t activate these areas because they don’t expect reciprocity, nor find it necessary to think about the computer’s intentions,” says Schjødt.

He says the results show people believe they are talking to someone when they pray, an outcome that pleased both atheists and Christians: “Atheists said it shows that it’s all an illusion,” says Schjødt, while Christians said it was evidence that God is real.

Brain scans reveal that people believe they are talking to someone when they pray
Robin Dunbar at the University of Oxford points out that the study proves neither: “This has nothing to do with whether God exists or not, only with subjects’ beliefs about whether God exists.”

Dinosaurs in the Temple; The Angkor Wat Stegosaur; the Bi-Pedal Dinosaur and Giant Creature at Umm El-Kanatir and Others

In wonder we were viewing our Cambodian Stegosaur
When some guy with a monocle burst through the back door

He took out a pen with indelible ink
Said if anyone moves your precious stego’s extinct

We advanced on him slowly, couldn’t believe he would do-it
But then he took his pen and drew a red line clear through it

Alas, poor Stegosaurus, we knew him well
You looked like a dinosaur but now no one can tell

Before making his escape at the back of the residence
He said; Man and dinosaur didn’t coexist, so I’m destroying the evidence

We’ve put together a selection of ancient dinosaur depictions which have in common the fact that they all appear on or within a religious “temple” or cathedral. Currently, one of the most well-known of these depictions is the alleged stegosaurus depiction at the Ta Prohm Temple near Angkor Wat in Cambodia.

This stegosaurus depiction (or so it seems to be) has been debunked in the mind of skeptics by the fairly simple measure of drawing a line through the depiction’s most prominent feature—the armor plating along it’s back.

One can make up their own mind about the depiction as we review it again below. Our section on Dinosaurs in History and Art is extensive enough that we can now categorize the artifacts in a number of different groupings. Although the Cambodian stegosaur may well be the most famous depiction in the world currently, we could argue that there are even more compelling dinosaur depictions at other temple, synagogue or cathedral sites, some of which we review here..

Bi-Pedal Dinosaur and Giant Creature Attack Horse

Umm El-Kanatir
Jewish Synagogue 400-700 A.D.
Excavated in 2007

Um el Kanatir (Umm el-Kanater) is an ancient Roman town on the Golan Heights, now an archeological site being developed into an Archaeological Park. The meaning of the name is “mother of the arches”.

The site is named for the water source, a spring that pours from the face of a cliff into three basins carved of stone in antiquity. Each of the basins was surmounted by a Roman monumental arch of cut basalt. It is assumed that the niches between the arches originally held pagan images of the spirit of the waters.

Two of the arches are now in ruins, but one survives intact. They, and the village site, continued to be used into the modern period not as a town but by small numbers of local farmers and shepherds living amid and atop the ruins of the ancient town, sometimes in homes constructed out of ancient blocks of building stone reconstructed into farm houses.

…It is believed that the income generated by the linen industry enabled the villagers to construct the very large sixth-century synagogue. Interestingly, the synagogue appears to have been built on the site of a more modest, fifth century synagogue. The large synagogue was destroyed the catastrophic Golan earthquake of 749.

The building was 18 meters (60 feet) long by 13 meters (43 feet) wide and calculated to have been 12 meters (40 feet) high, making it one of the largest ancient synagogues in the region.

Neither the synagogue nor the town were rebuilt after the earthquake of 749. The synagogue was first identified by Laurence Oliphant and Gottlieb Schumacher in 1884. The surviving elements of the ancient synagogue.

Photo:Umm El-Kanatir art from 400 to 700 A.D. Comparison with Cryolophosaurus and Dilophosaurus, two crested theropod dinosaurs.

Theropod dinosaurs were bi-pedal animals with two much smaller arms which they held close to their chests. They were fiercesome meat eaters like which included tyrannosaurus and giganotosaurus.

The creature depicted joining the fray here is clearly a bi-pedal dinosaur with a distinctive head crest, a terrible aspect, and two huge thighs. The tail can be discerned by those at the site if not from the photos. This depiction also shows that the dinosaur has three toes and a hind claw, just like tyrannosaurus.

The head crest on a theropod dinosaur is somewhat unusual but there are a number of known theropods with a crest, including Cryolophosaurus, meaning “cold crest lizard”). Cryolophosaurus was a large theropod dinosaur, with a bizarre crest on its head that looked like a Spanish comb.

Cryolophosaurus was excavated from Antarctica’s Early Jurassic Hanson Formation (former the upper Falla Formation) by paleontologist Dr. William Hammer in 1991…Wikipedia

Another theropod with a head crest is Dilophosaurus. Both Cryolophosaurus and Dilophosaurus are both shown here in comparison to the dinosaur depictions at Umm El-Kanatir. This depiction may not be of either of these theropod dinosaurs but it clearly is a depiction of a theropod with a distinctive crest.

The “horse” is being directly attacked by a very large creature, possibly a reptile; possibly a feline.

Ceratopsian Dinosaur Depiction at Muktinath Temple
Site of 108 ‘Dragon Headed” Fountains

The Muktinath Temple was consecrated in 1815 A.D by Queen Subarna Prabha, the wife of Rana Bahadur Shah. This temple is built in a Tibetan pagoda style and contains huge brass idols of Lord Vishnu, Shiva, Brahma and Kali. The local name for Muktinath is Chumig Gyatsa….Source: Pilgrimage Tours

On a wall of the temple are 108 “dragon headed” fountains which pilgrims seek out to “cleanse” themselves. Actually, the heads are variously described as; dragons or bulls.

At least one of the heads, as seen here on the left in this photo, is not a dragon or a bull, but instead is an excellent likeness of a ceratopsian dinosaur.

The temple was “consecrated in 1815”. The 108 fountains has been a pilgrimage site for many number of years. Ceratopsian dinosaurs were not really understood in their present form until the late 1800’s to the early 1900’s, some years after the temple was consecrated. In 1887, a pair of ceratopsian horns were identified as horns of an extinct bison.

When was the ceratopsian depiction created? If in or around 1815, how was such an accurate depiction of a ceratopsian dinosaur created more than 60 years prior to the accurate depiction of these dinosaurs by science—unless someone had actually seen one alive?

Enormous ‘foot-shaped’ enclosures discovered in Jordan Valley–but not in a left, right pattern, right?

Religious, Science, Sophistication of Ancestors, Uncategorized | Posted by Chris Parker
Apr 07 2009

“The ‘foot’ structures that we found in the Jordan valley are the first sites that the People of Israel built upon entering Canaan and they testify to the biblical concept of ownership of the land with the foot,” said archaeologist Prof. Adam Zertal of the University of Haifa, who headed the excavating team that exposed five compounds in the shape of an enormous “foot”, that it were likely to have been used at that time to mark ownership of territory.

On the eve of the Passover holiday, researchers from the University of Haifa reveal an exceptional and exciting archaeological discovery that dates back to the time of the People of Israel’s settlement in the country: For the first time, enclosed sites identified with the biblical sites termed in Hebrew “gilgal”, which were used for assemblies, preparation for battle, and rituals, have been revealed in the Jordan valley.

The researchers, headed by Prof. Adam Zertal, exposed five such structures, each in the shape of an enormous “foot”, which they suppose functioned during that period to mark ownership on the territory. “I am an archaeologist and only deal with the scientific findings, so I do not go into the additional meanings of the discovery, if there are any,” Prof. Zertal said.

The Hebrew word “gilgal” (a camp or stone-structure), is mentioned thirty-nine times in the Bible. The stone enclosures were located in the Jordan valley and the hill country west of it. To this day, no archaeological site has been proposed to be identified with the gilgal. Between the years 1990 and 2008, during the Manasseh Hill-Country Survey that covers Samaria and the Jordan Valley, five such enclosures were found and excavated, all designed in the shape of a human foot.

All of these sites were established at the outset of the Iron Age I (the 13th-12th centuries BCE). Based on their size and shape, it is clear that they were used for human assembly and not for animals.

Two of the sites (in Bedhat esh-Sha’ab and Yafit 3) were excavated in the years 2002-2005, under the directorship of Dr. Ben-Yosef and the guidance of Adam Zertal. The findings, mostly of clay vessels and animal bones, date their foundation to the end of the 13th century BCE, and one of them endured up to the 9th or 8th century BCE without architectonic adjustment.

In at least two cases, paved circuits, some two meters wide, were found around the structures. These were probably used to encircle the sites in a ceremony. “Ceremonial encirclement of an area in procession is an important element in the ancient Near East,” Prof. Zertal says, adding that the origins of the Hebrew term “hag” (festival) in Semitic languages is from the verb “hug”, which means “encircle”. Thus, this discovery can also shed new light on the religious processions and the meaning of the Hebrew word for festival, “hag”.

Prof. Zertal emphasized that the “foot” held much significance as a symbol of ownership of territory, control over an enemy, connection between people and land, and presence of the Deity. Some of these concepts are mentioned in ancient Egyptian literature.

The Bible also has a wealth of references to the importance of the “foot” as a symbol: of ownership over Canaan, the bond between the People of Israel and their land, the link between the People and God’s promise to inherit the land, defeating the enemy ‘underfoot’, and the Temple imaged as a foot.

“The discovery of these ‘foot’ structures opens an entirely new system of linguistic and historical perceptions,” Prof. Zertal emphasizes. He explains that the meaning of the biblical Hebrew word for “foot” – “regel” – is also a “festival”, “holiday”, and ascending to see the face of God. As such, the source of the Hebrew term “aliya la-regel”, literally translated as “ascending to the foot” (and now known in English as a pilgrimage), is attributed to the “foot” sites in the Jordan valley.

“Now, following these discoveries, the meanings of the terms become clear. Identifying the ‘foot’ enclosures as ancient Israeli ceremonial sites leads us to a series of new possibilities to explain the beginnings of Israel, of the People of Israel’s festivals and holidays,” he stated.

According to Prof. Zertal, the “foot” constructions were used for ceremonial assemblies during Iron Age I (and probably after). When the religious center was moved to Jerusalem and settled there, the command of “aliya la-regel” (pilgrimage) became associated with Jerusalem. The source of the term, however, is in the sites that have now been discovered in the Jordan valley and the Altar on Mt. Ebal.

“The biblical text testifies to the antiquity of these compounds in Israel’s ceremonials, and the ‘foot’ structures were built by an organized community that had a central leadership,” Prof. Zertal stated. He stressed that there is a direct connection between the biblical ideology, which identifies ownership over the new land with the foot and hence with the shape of the constructions.

Late Survival of Megatherium in South America-Olmec Culture Representation

Official scientific sources say that Megatherium became extinct between 10,000 and 2,000,000 years ago. Writing in Science Frontiers Online, William Corliss informs about several eyewitness accounts of late surviving megatheriums-reported by hunters and miners.

Those who speculate that the Giant South American Sloth survived until very late and may survive even until today are supported in part by this accurate Olmec Culture representation of Megatherium.
A megatherium appears to be having a less than fortunate encounter with an Olmec.

It seems that there is a cross-discipline problem in that often, those who are curators of cultural artifacts aren’t either biologists or paleontologists and so often fail to make accurate id’s of the pieces they catalog.

I doubt that there would be much push back on a creature out of time only 7 or 8 thousand years. Its not a dinosaur after all.

Made from a solid piece of brown jade, an animal with its wide open mouth with an ape-like animal in its mouth. The ape-like animal is resting on its own tail and in the mouth of the other animal. Mint Condition.

Speculation of Late Survival..Science Frontiers Online
Possible Survival Of Giant Sloths In South America

For many years, rumors have been filtering out of trackless western Amazonia telling of a 6-foot, 500-pound giant sloth clothed in reddish hair. Rubber gatherers of the region report that this fearsome creature emits a hideous odor and transfixes one with a paralyzing stare! It also seems impervious to spears and shotgun pellets. Natives and some cryptozoologists equate this animal to the legendary Mapinguari.

D.C. Owen, an American biologist working with the Goeldi Natural History Museum in Belem, Brazil, has been tracking these stories. The present fossil record asserts that giant ground sloths resembling the supposed Mapinguari did occupy western Amazonia up to about 8700 years ago. To this must be added the appearance of an apparently fresh skin of the animal in 1897.

Even more recently, gold miners are said to have killed a giant sloth. As with the North American Bigfoot, hard data are elusive, particularly actual specimens, dead or alive.

Owen is optimistic, however. He sees his hunt for the Mapinguari as more than just another useless monster hunt:

“If South America’s largest terrestrial mammal has been hidden to science until 1994, what else does the Amazon have in terms of biodiversity that’s new to us?”

(Stolzenberg, William; “Bigfoot of the Amazon,” Nature Conservancy, p. 7, July/August 1994. Anonymous; “The Mother of All Sloths,” Fortean Times, no. 77, p. 17, October/November 1994.)
Comment. Where is the 1897 skin? What happened to the sloth killed by the gold miners? Cryptozoology has always been plagued by disappearing critical evidence!
