Octopus Fossils, Allegedly 95 Million Years Old? Who Gets the Surprise-Evolutionists or Bible Believers?

Whenever one hears about ants or bees or spiders or wasps etc. being found in amber, which are supposedly millions of years old, take note; they are clearly recognizable as; ants, bees, spiders or wasps, no matter how old science claims that they are.

Each of these discoveries are brought to the public in isolation; but the consistent pattern in the discovery of “millions of years old” fossils or of preserved creatures is that they have not changed. Even minute changes that science might point to as showing “evolution” over time can be accounted for by the genetic variation inherent in species.

So the question is; when is this supposed “evolution” occurring?

Recently, scientists discovered octopus fossils which were supposedly 95 million years old from the Cretaceous. If you’re an evolutionist, you were surprised by what was found; they were “virtually identical” to “modern” octopi. If you are a Bible believer, this is exactly what you expected.

Again, taken in isolation, one might explain this lack of change over “millions of years” as an anomaly. But if you were somehow allowed to read about all these discoveries together, the conclusion would be obvious; these creatures are not changing over time–no matter how many mythical millions of years they are given to do so.

Almost like pre-teens, many years ago biologists decided that the coelacanth, a large, lobed fish looked all “prehistoric”. Thinking that the fish had gone extinct with the dinosaurs 65 million years ago, they formulated a theory suggesting that it was involved in the evolution of land animals. However, this fish, which according to evolutionary theories preceded dinosaurs, was found to still be swimming around–unchanged. Coelacanths, as it turns out are “ancestral” to coelacanths, just as dogs and cats are ancestral to dogs and cats.

A fossil lamprey, supposedly 360 million years old surprised science because they were just like “current” lampreys.

Have these isolated but multitudinous discoveries made science pause and wonder? No, because we are talking about a faith here.

From the article: “”these things are 95 million years old, yet one of the fossils is almost indistinguishable from living species.” This provides important evolutionary information.”"

Cretaceous octopus with ink and suckers — the world’s least likely fossils?

New finds of 95 million year old fossils reveal much earlier origins of modern octopuses. These are among the rarest and unlikeliest of fossils. The chances of an octopus corpse surviving long enough to be fossilized are so small that prior to this discovery only a single fossil species was known, and from fewer specimens than octopuses have legs.

Everyone knows what an octopus is. Even if you have never encountered one in the flesh, the eight arms, suckers, and sack-like body are almost as familiar a body-plan as the four legs, tail and head of cats and dogs. Unlike our vertebrate cousins, however, octopuses don’t have a well-developed skeleton, and while this famously allows them to squeeze into spaces that a more robust animal could not, it does create problems for scientists interested in evolutionary history.

When did octopuses acquire their characteristic body-plan, for example? Nobody really knows, because fossil octopuses are rarer than, well, pretty much any very rare thing you care to mention.

The body of an octopus is composed almost entirely of muscle and skin, and when an octopus dies, it quickly decays and liquefies into a slimy blob. After just a few days there will be nothing left at all. And that assumes that the fresh carcass is not consumed almost immediately by hungry scavengers.

The result is that preservation of an octopus as a fossil is about as unlikely as finding a fossil sneeze, and none of the 200-300 species of octopus known today has ever been found in fossilized form. Until now, that is.

Palaeontologists have just identified three new species of fossil octopus discovered in Cretaceous rocks in Lebanon. The five specimens, described in the latest issue of the journal Palaeontology, are 95 million years old but, astonishingly, preserve the octopuses’ eight arms with traces of muscles and those characteristic rows of suckers.

Even traces of the ink and internal gills are present in some specimens. ‘These are sensational fossils, extraordinarily well preserved’ says Dirk Fuchs of the Freie University Berlin, lead author of the report. But what surprised the scientists most was how similar the specimens are to modern octopus: ‘these things are 95 million years old, yet one of the fossils is almost indistinguishable from living species.” This provides important evolutionary information.

“The more primitive relatives of octopuses had fleshy fins along their bodies. The new fossils are so well preserved that they show, like living octopus, that they didn’t have these structures.’

This pushes back the origins of modern octopus by tens of millions of years, and while this is scientifically significant, perhaps the most remarkable thing about these fossils is that they exist at all.

Cleopatra’s Sister was a “Sistah”?

Found: the sister Cleopatra killed
Forensic experts believe they have identified the skeleton of the queen’s younger sister, murdered over 2,000 years ago

Daniel Foggo

ARCHEOLOGISTS and forensic experts believe they have identified the skeleton of Cleopatra’s younger sister, murdered more than 2,000 years ago on the orders of the Egyptian queen.

The remains of Princess Arsinöe, put to death in 41BC on the orders of Cleopatra and her Roman lover Mark Antony to eliminate her as a rival, are the first relics of the Ptolemaic dynasty to be identified.

The breakthrough, by an Austrian team, has provided pointers to Cleopatra’s true ethnicity. Scholars have long debated whether she was Greek or Macedonian like her ancestor the original Ptolemy, a Macedonian general who was made ruler of Egypt by Alexander the Great, or whether she was north African.

Evidence obtained by studying the dimensions of Arsinöe’s skull shows she had some of the characteristics of white Europeans, ancient Egyptians and black Africans, indicating that Cleopatra was probably of mixed race, too. They were daughters of Ptolemy XII by different wives. The results vindicate the theories of Hilke Thür of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, who has long claimed that the skeleton was Arsinöe. She described the discovery of Arsinöe’s ethnicity as “a real sensation which leads to a new insight on Cleopatra’s family”.

Fellow experts are now convinced. Günther Hölbl, an authority on the Ptolemies, said the identification of the skeleton was “a great discovery”.

The forensic evidence was obtained by a team working under the auspices of the Austrian Archeological Institute, which is set to detail its findings at an anthropological convention in the United States later this month.

The story of the discovery will also be the subject of a tele-vision documentary, Cleopatra: Portrait of a Killer, to be shown on BBC1 at 9pm next Monday.

The institute’s breakthrough came about after it set out to examine Thür’s belief that an octagonal tomb in the remains of the Roman city of Ephesus contained the body of Arsinöe.

According to Roman texts the city, in what is now Turkey, is where Arsinöe was banished after being defeated in a power struggle against Cleopatra and her then lover, Julius Caesar.

Arsinöe was said to have been murdered after Cleopatra, now with Mark Antony following Caesar’s death, ordered the Roman general to have her younger sibling killed to prevent any future attempts on the Egyptian throne.

The distinctive tomb was first opened in 1926 by archeologists who found a sarcophagus inside containing a skeleton. They removed the skull, which was examined and measured; but it was lost in the upheaval of the second world war.

In the early 1990s Thür reentered the tomb and found the headless skeleton, which she believed to be of a young woman. Clues, such as the unusual octagonal shape of the tomb, which echoed that of the lighthouse of Alexandria with which Arsinöe was associated, convinced Thür the body was that of Cleopatra’s sister. Her theory was considered credible by many historians, and in an attempt to resolve the issue the Austrian Archeological Institute asked the Medical University of Vienna to appoint a specialist to examine the remains.

Fabian Kanz, an anthropologist, was sceptical when he began this task two years ago. “We tried to exclude her from being Arsinöe,” he said. “We used all the methods we have to find anything that can say, ‘Okay, this can’t be Arsinöe because of this and this’.”

After using carbon dating, which dated the skeleton from 200BC-20BC, Kanz, who had examined more than 500 other skeletons taken from the ruins of Ephesus, found Thür’s theory gained credibility.

He said he was certain the bones were female and placed the age of the woman at 15-18. Although Arsinöe’s date of birth is not known, she was certainly younger than Cleopatra, who was about 27 at the time of her sister’s demise.

The lack of any sign of illness or malnutrition also indicated a sudden death, said Kanz. Evidence of the skeleton’s north African ethnicity provided the final clue.

Caroline Wilkinson, a forensic anthropologist, reconstructed the missing skull based on measurements taken in the 1920s. Using computer technology it was possible to create a facial impression of what Arsinöe might have looked like.

“It has got this long head shape,” said Wilkinson. “That’s something you see quite frequently in ancient Egyptians and black Africans. It could suggest a mixture of ancestry.”

All the Really Smart People Believe in Man-Made Global Warming

Amusing?, Church of Darwin, s8int.com, Science, Uncategorized | Posted by Chris Parker

Painting: The Great Day of His Wrath, by John Martin

All the really smart people believe in man-made global warming.

Smart people believe in evolution too. Some of them also believe in God but certainly not one of them believes that men and dinosaurs lived together. Remember the laughs the smart people in politics and the media got out of Alaska governor Sarah Palin’s comments that she believed that man and dinosaurs had interacted? Maybe she could see dinosaurs from her back porch?

When I say smart, I mean smart in a worldly way. I mean smartness, not wisdom. There is a funny thing about smart people, though; its often pointed out that smart people are easier to fool than non-smart people. This can be put down to the fact that they believe that they are too smart to fool. They believe too much in their own capabilities.

Clever or smart people I’m told, are easier to con—they trust their own judgment too much-while the not-so-smart don’t trust their own judgment. Sometimes, it is said that they don’t even understand the “great” opportunity that is being presented to them so that they can be swindled.

Some “hypnotizers” claim that it is easier to hypnotize the smart because smart people have more preconceptions about the way the world works and thus, it is sometimes easier to prey on those misconceptions.

What does it feel like to be smart like that? Obviously, I wouldn’t know but as the old line goes;
*hey, the smartest man in the world just jumped out of the plane with my backback!

Certainly, the Bible makes the case for Godly wisdom over worldly knowledge;

1 Cor 3
Do not deceive yourselves. If any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of this age, he should become a “fool” so that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness”; and again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.”

Smart people smart a little bit whenever they see a poll showing that a majority of American’s believe in God and disbelieve evolution. For instance a recent poll in Britain found widespread belief in creationism. The majority believed that an intelligence was involved in creation even though only 33% or so believe that the world was created less than 10,000 years ago. Polling of Americans has been even stronger in favor of creationism and God with a majority (79% in Nationwide poll in 2000) favoring that creation be taught along with evolution. Smart people must smart over the fact that approximately the same percentage of scientists believe in God as does the general population.

The British survey caused famous Atheist and smart person Richard Dawkins to say that Britons were “pig ignorant” about science. Then he went out on his stoop and yelled at passing teenagers to “get off his lawn”!

Smart people believe in consensus. There is a scientific consensus on evolution, on global warming, on the creation of the universe etc. But as the late Michael Crichton said;

“I regard consensus science as an extremely pernicious development that ought to be stopped cold in its tracks. Historically, the claim of consensus has been the first refuge of scoundrels; it is a way to avoid debate by claiming that the matter is already settled. Whenever you hear the consensus of scientists agrees on something or other, reach for your wallet, because you’re being had.

“Let’s be clear: the work of science has nothing whatever to do with consensus. Consensus is the business of politics. Science, on the contrary, requires only one investigator who happens to be right, which means that he or she has results that are verifiable by reference to the real world.

In science consensus is irrelevant. What is relevant is reproducible results. The greatest scientists in history are great precisely because they broke with the consensus. There is no such thing as consensus science. If it’s consensus, it isn’t science. If it’s science, it isn’t consensus. Period.”

Why don’t many Christians go along with the consensus on man made global warming? It’s not because Christians are opposed to lowering harmful emissions like carbon dioxide and other air pollutants, it is because Christians know how the world will end—and it will not be because of global warming; though warming of the globe will be involved;

2 Peter 3 10

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.

That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. “

Predictions of Catastrophic Global Temperature Change in the 1960’s and 1970’s

Really smart people tell us that the earth is 4.5 billion years old. Yet these same people are predicting the end of all things based on the supposed global temperature increase of at most, several decades. If the earth is really 4.5 billion years old, then the period in question is less than .000111% of its life and akin to you or I going into full panic mode because our forehead felt a little warm a second ago.

In the 1960’s and 1970’s, all the way through 1977, scientists and other smart people were very concerned about global temperature change then as well—only at that time the consensus was that we were heading towards an inevitable ice age; leading to gross planetary disruptions; global famines, war over scarce resources and population dislocations.

It seems to me that a brief survey of news articles during that period; showing what the consensus and the smart people had to say then would put the words of the current scientific consensus in some perspective. It may be that some scientist’s career spanned the period beginning in the 1960’s until today and that he/she was able to sound dire warnings for both global cooling and global warming—always safe within the consensus!

Pollution Ice Age? Star-News 1/26/1970

A new Ice Age may be breathing down our necks. This warning doesn’t come from hippie haired zealots with sandwich boards proclaiming, “The End is Near.” As most of the nation shivers through one of the severest winters on record (a situation which has not reached this area as yet), scientists are seriously speculating about the long-term effects of a global cooling ‘trend.

Some see links between it and air pollution. There is considerable debate about the meaning of data on hand. Scientists do agree, however, that in the last 30 years or so, the average temperature of the. world as a whole has dropped by one-third ‘ to one-half degree Centigrade. Such a decrease doesn’t look like much until it is ‘noted that the last Ice Age, about 10,000 years ago, resulted from a temperature drop of only 4 or 5 degrees.

Gordon J. F. MacDonald, vice-chancellor for research at UC Santa Barbara, puts it this way: “The answer is by no means clear, but there is increasing evidence that urban and industrial pollution, perhaps aided by agricultural pollution, is in large part responsible for decreasing the surface temperature at a rate compared with the effect of carbon dioxide in increasing temperature.

It’s Getting Colder

Scientists Say Warmer Ocean May Be Villain in Record Chill

The most frequently heard explanation these days is that air pollution is blotting out part of the sunlight. It also has been suggested that i n c r e a s e d volcanic dust may be doing the same thing. A third idea is that we may be experiencing a cyclical variation in the sun’s energy output. That is, the solar rays simply aren’t as hot right now as they are sometimes.

……. The theory of the apparent link between global wind flow and the emerging cooling trend casts considerable doubt on the arguments that air pollution and volcanic activity have much if anything to do with the nation’s icebox weather conditions, …..

The Earth Is Cooling, Return of Ice Age Is Feared
Iowa City Press-Citizen 4/14/1973

Snow cover remaining on Baffin Island in the Canadian Arctic after the summer melt-off of 1979 is in sharp contrast to the same area, relatively snow-free, seen in an aerial photo taken a decade earlier. Reflection of sunlight off such year-round snow cover is considered a possible contribution to further global cooling.

Solid information is scarce. But whatever its cause, many of the scientists who concern themselves with studying the earth’s climate balance and the glaciers that once covered much of the Northern Hemisphere are no longer asking whether another great glaciation is on the way; they are asking rather: When? And why?

…..The threat, according to scientists from a score of institutions who gathered at Brown University in Providence, R.I., recently to share information on “The End of the Present Interglacial,” is not that miles thick ice sheets are about to come sweeping down out of the north, returning us instantaneously to an ice-age climate. It is rather that there are already signs the earth is cooling in a cycle similar to those that heralded earlier great glaciations.

…..Fairbridge declares “Global climatic change constitutes a first, order environmental hazard,” the scientists who gathered at Providence declared at the end of their deliberations.

likely to follow in the centuries ahead?”

They fear that the answer is; no; not yet.

Climate specialists said a global cooling trend has lowered the earth’s temperature 2.7 degrees Fahrenheit since 1945 and may spread drought conditions though the semi-arid regions of Asia and South America.

The warning flags of inevitable crisis are up, Dr .Patrick McTaggart-Cowan of the Science Council of Canada, a former meteorologist, said of worldwide agricultural prospects In a recent McGill University convocation address.

Edwardsville Intelligencer, The 8/1/74

For the long run, there is mounting evidence of a Worldwide cooling trend. The average
temperature of the world as a whole has dropped by one-third to one-half degree Centigrade in the last 30 years. “The decline of prevailing temperatures since about 1945 appears to be the longest continued downward trend since, said a spokesman for the view that manmade atmospheric pollution has changed the global climate.

Fossil-fuel burning, mechanized agricultural opertions, accidental forest fires, and the
primitive slash-and-burn land clearing method still widely practiced in the tropics have
increased the amount of dust in the atmosphere, Bryson says, causing more sunlight to be reflected into space and lowering earth’s temperature.

“It is something that, if it continues, will affect the whole human occupation of the earth — like many millions of people starving. The effects are already showing up in rather drastic ways.”

Viewed from the perspective of thousands of years, the first half of this century was an extraordinary, having a brief interlude of exceptionally warm and benign weather. The warming trend peaked in about 1945, and temperatures have been dropping since.

The total drop has been about 2,7 degrees Farenheit — hardly enough to conjure images of the glaciers that crept over North America 10,000 years ago.

Thompson is one of 12 scientists participating in the three-day program which Is sponsored by the Wright-Ingraham Institute of Colorado Springs, Colo., a non-profit organization to promote opportunities for serving human andnatural resources.

In an analysis of global weather patterns, Thompson said cooling and warming trends are unpredictable and “the only feature which allows prediction with confidence is that of change.” He reminded his fellow scientists, “We must accept the fact that a cooling trend could continue to the end of this century (with) Important effects on agriculture.”

Scientists Ask Why World Climate Is Changing; Major Cooling May Be Ahead; Scientists Ponder Why World’s Climate Is Changing; a Major Cooling Widely Considered to Be Inevitable
By WALTER SULLIVAN

May 21, 1975, Wednesday

The world’s climate is changing. Of that scientists are firmly convinced. But in what direction and why are subjects of deepening debate.

There are specialists who say that a new ice age is on the way the inevitable consequence of a natural cyclic process, or as a result of man-made pollution of the atmosphere.

And there are those who say that such pollution may actually head off an ice age.

Sooner or later a major cooling of the climate is widely considered inevitable. Hints that it may already have begun are evident.

*A doctor, a physicist, a Boy Scout, and a minister were out for a Sunday afternoon flight on a small private plane. Suddenly, the plane developed engine trouble. The pilot did his best, but the plane started to go down. The pilot grabbed a parachute, told the passengers that they’d better jump, and jumped himself.

But there were only three parachutes left. The doctor grabbed one and said “I’m a doctor! I save lives, so I have to live,” and jumped out. The physicist said, “I’m the smartest person in the world, I deserve to live!” He grabbed a parachute and jumped, too.

The minister looked at the Boy Scout and said, “Son, I’ve lived a long and full life. You’re young and have your whole life ahead of you. Take the last parachute and live in peace.” The Boy Scout handed the parachute back to the minister and said “Take it. ‘The smartest person in the world’ just jumped out of the plane with my back pack.”

The Origin of Life: the Chirality Problem

Nothing beats the creative imagination and storytelling capabilities of the darwinists. However, some other branches of science are quickly catching up. Theorectical science has it seems become largely a right brain function where storytelling and creative thinking have had to come to the fore in an attempt to explain the unacceptable.

For instance; problems with the big bang theory? Science creatively invents dark matter and now dark energy; both invisible and undetectable to support a theory that otherwise wouldn’t fit observation and measurement. Note that “dark matter” isn’t supposed to merely exist at the margins, up to 95% of the universe is said to be made up of this invisible stuff.

String theory is a story created by cosmologists-and others to account for the maddening (for science) realization that we live in an anthropic universe–one it appears–that is specifically tailored for life. Creatively, science is hanging its hat on the idea that this problem is explainable because there are actually an infinite number of universes occupying the same space and that we just happen to live in the one universe that can support life. Naturally, those other universes are undetectable.

How did a complex language get into the cells of everything living? Pretend that it makes perfect sense that languages which can be read and understood by both a sender and a reciever can, arise by chance without intelligence or a designer.

Another vexing problem for materialists is the chirality problem. Basically, amino acids occur in nature as either “right handed” or “left handed” on a 50%/50% basis. If life randomly assembled itself under these conditions, how to account for the fact that living organisms are made up of only the “left handed” versions? There is no biochemical reason why this should be so. The answer; maybe the life in this universe was seeded by asteroids and meteorites from outer space-which were entirely left-handed!

Notice how many times “maybe” and “could of” and the like appear in a “hard science” article. For more information on this “problem”, see Origin of Life and the Chirality Problem, by Jonathan Sarfati ….s8int.com

The Scientist: NewsBlog:
Did lefty molecules seed life?
Posted by Elie Dolgin
16th March 2009

The molecular orientation of compounds brought to Earth by meteorites could have determined the world’s chemistry long before life began, according to a new study published online today (Mar. 16) in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Amino acids come in left-handed and right-handed forms, which, like a pair of human hands, are mirror images that cannot be superimposed onto each other. Yet living organisms use only the left-handed version, which presents a conundrum: There’s no biochemical reason why one mirror image should be better than the other, so scientists have long debated whether life’s left-handed leaning arose because of random processes or whether rocks from outer space seeded a southpaw solar system.

The current study argues for the latter possibility by showing that some extraterrestrial meteorites contain an abundance of left-handed molecules. “The implications are that all life in our solar system could be the same handedness as life on Earth,” Jeffrey Bada, a geochemist at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, Calif., who was not involved in the research, told The Scientist.

Daniel Glavin and Jason Dworkin, astrobiologists at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD, compared the ratio of left- and right-handed 5-carbon amino acids found in six primitive, carbon-rich meteorites that have an elemental composition similar to that presumably found in the early solar system. Three of these rocks were heavily left-skewed, while the remaining three showed equal handedness, or chirality, the researchers found. Of the lefty rocks, the meteorite that fell on Murchison, Australia, in 1969 — arguably the most widely studied carbonaceous meteorite in the world — contained the largest imbalance ever observed: a 18.5% excess of the left-handed form of the amino acid isovaline.

“There really is a large, 15 to 20% excess for this particular amino acid, and it has important implications for homochirality [single-handedness] and the origins of life,” Glavin told The Scientist.

Maybe life was biased toward left-handedness in our solar system” said Dworkin. The possibility that left-handed amino acids are so prevalent in our solar system is “bad news in looking for independent origins of life,” he noted, because it decreases the chances of researchers stumbling upon an organism that uses only right-handed amino acids — a clear trademark of alien life. “But it’s also good news” for the possibility of a second origin, because single-handedness is essential for biotic chemistry as we know it. Thus, a meteorite-driven imbalance could have helped “jumpstart” early life, he said.

Paul Davies, a theoretical physicist and astrobiologist at Arizona State University (ASU) in Tempe who was not involved in the study, was not convinced by this argument. “Even if there’s this slight excess at the outset there has to be some sort of mechanism that’s going to amplify that to make it 100%,” he said.

The mechanism that Glavin and Dworkin propose to explain the observed left-handed excess is that polarized light — which is twisted and can rotate molecules — probably set the imbalance in motion. Then, once the balance was slightly askew, water within the meteorites further drove an enrichment of left-handed amino acids in the liquid phase and relegated right-handed molecules to the solid phase. “The whole amplification is due to this process of aqueous alteration,” said Dworkin.

But the link between water-bearing rocks and a left-handed skew is just a correlation, said ASU biochemist Sandra Pizzarello, who was also not involved with the work. “It’s just a supposition,” she said. “I would have liked them to back it up with physico-chemical possibilities.”

Glavin pointed to the work of Columbia University’s Ronald Breslow and Imperial College’s Donna Blackmond, which has demonstrated that this so-called “enantiomeric enrichment” can occur in a liquid phase, such as the one found during the melting of ice inside the meteorites’ parent asteroid.

Still, even if aqueous alteration can explain the build-up of left-handed molecules, it doesn’t explain the disappearance of their mirror images, noted Robert Hazen, a geochemist at the Carnegie Institution in Washington, DC. “Where did the right-handed amino acids go? They had to go somewhere else… There has to be a destruction process.”

Bada also noted that the left-skewed, 5-carbon amino acids described by the authors are not the same molecules that are used by life on Earth. The 20-odd protein building blocks that living beings rely on showed no such bias in the meteorites, the NASA researchers found, so to get homochirality in life there would need to be some mechanism of transferring the single-handedness between different types of amino acids.

The origins of life remain “one of those bewildering things,” Bada said. “If there was a straight-forward answer for the homochirality of amino acids, I think we would have found it.”

Living “Pre-Historic” Creatures Reported in Papua New Guinea; Monckton’s “Gazeka” Positively Identified, Theropod Dinosaur Verified– by Native Art?

Papua New Guinea is a huge Island north of Australia, the home itself of some fairly unusual fauna. Brian Irwin is an Australian who recently visited Papua New Guinea where he met a number of residents of small islands of West New Britain, who had recently seen huge creatures which, if accurate must describe living dinosaurs. These sightings have been occurring since the early 1990’s.

Irwin detailed these new eyewitness accounts in a story he wrote about them entitled “Theropod and sauropod dinosaurs sighted in Papua New Guinea?”

More about these recent sightings shortly, however first we wanted to recount the story of the huge creature which was seen and described by scientists on Papua New Guinea back approximately 100 years ago.

According to an article in the Steven’s Point Wisconsin Gazette of August 31, 1910, “one of the most remarkable scientific discoveries ever made” was reported from the “wilds” of New Guinea. According to the article, a “prehistoric monster” much larger than an elephant had been discovered and encountered not by common folks like me and you, but by “scientists”.

In addition, to the “giant monster”,the scientists had come across a “marvelous race of pigmies” who averaged just over four feet in height.

According to the article; “the expedition was sent out by a committee appointed by the British Ornithologist’s union to explore the great Snow mountains in Dutch New Guinea, and consists of several famous scientists, headed by Walter Goodfellow, the naturalist.”

“According to the official reports, the Gazeka is of gigantic size and fearsome aspect. It is black and white striped, has the nose of a tapir and “a face like the devil.”

Among the English inhabitants of the island, the animal is known as Monckton’s Gazeka, in honor of Mr. C. A. W. Monckton, a former explorer In New Guinea, who first reported its presence in the mountains.

Mr. Monckton, during his ascent of Mount Albert Edward, in the west of British New Guinea, discovered the huge footprints and other indications of the very recent presence of some tremendous monster that had evidently been prowling on the grassy plains surrounding the lakes on the summit at an elevation of about 12,500 feet.

He followed the trail all day, and came upon the monster at dusk, just as it was devastating a settlement of the pigmies.

The little natives were screaming and running for their lives, although they turned every now and again to aim their poisoned arrows at the brute.

Monckton let fire as soon as he was able to get in a proper position, and the huge Gazeka at once turned upon him. As it reared upon its hind legs and pawed the air it looked to the hunter as big as a house, standing fully 25 feet high.

Two of Monckton’s bullets seemed to take effect, as a stream of blood flowed freely from the animal’s shoulder, but before Monckton was able to reload the animal turned and fled. By that time it was too dark to follow him, and Monckton never had another opportunity to renew his pursuit

Shang Dynasty, Jade Piece is a Lambeosaurine Dinosaur?

Crypto, Dinosaurs in Literature, s8int.com, Science, Unexplained Artifact | Posted by Chris Parker

This objet d’art is posted for sale on the internet. The text at the bottom of this post is a verbatim quote from the site. It is the opinion of the sellers of this ancient Shang Dynasty object that it is a representation of a dinosaur. There suggestion was tyrannosaur but we think that it very closely matches the lambeosaurine dinosaurs.(This piece now is in the Genesis Park Collection)

Charonosaurus, saurolophus and parasaurolophus were three very large lambeosaurine dinosaurs which are virtually indistinquishable from each other, at least as interpreted by artists and scientists today. All three of them had backwards pointing crests similar to the crest/horn depicted by the Chinese artist of the Shang Dynasty between 1766 BC and 1122 BC.

Here we compare the ancient Chinese piece with several depictions of lambeosaurine dinosaurs selected to most closely resemble the posture and position of the jade, Shang Dynasty piece. It will be noted that the smaller front legs aren’t depicted on the piece due to what we assume is “artistic license”. Even so, we maintain that it is fairly easy to identify the piece.

The similarity between this ancient piece and modern depictions of these tree hadrosaurine dinosaurs is too close to be a coincidence; the dermal crest, the backwards pointing crest and the ability to walk bipedally on two large, powerful legs.

This “dinosaur” features scaled skin and a long tail that helped the bipedal dinosaurs balance themselves. It appears as though these lambesaurine dinosaurs, which lived on the North American continent as well as in Asia continued to live at least between 3,700 and 3,100 years ago.

“Charonosaurus is a very large lambeosaurine hadrosaur (estimated around 10.8 m (36 ft) long), known from a partial skull (Holotype: CUST J-V1251-57 (Changchun University of Sciences and Technology, Changchun, Jilin Province, China)) found in the Late Maastrichtian Yuliangze Formation, west of Jiayin village, Heilongjiang Province, northeastern China.

Adult and juvenile hadrosaur remains discovered in the same area and formation likely represent the same taxon and supply information on most of the postcranial skeleton; the femur length was up to 1.35 m. (4.5 ft).

Charonosaurus is one of the largest hadrosaurs currently known from Asia and indicates that lambeosaurines survived till the very end of the Cretaceous (lambeosaurines are not known from the Late Maastrichtian in North America)”…..wikipedia.org

Saurolophus is a genus of large hadrosaurine duckbill that lived about 70 million years ago, in the Late Cretaceous of North America (Canada) and Asia (Mongolia); it is one of the few genera of dinosaurs known from multiple continents.

It is distinguished by a spike-like crest which projects up and back from the skull. Saurolophus was a herbivorous dinosaur which could move about either bipedally or quadrupedally.

The type species, S. osborni, was described by Barnum Brown in 1912. The other valid species, S. angustirostris, lived in Asia, and was described by Anatoly Konstantinovich Rozhdestvensky. A third species is considered dubious.

Photo:saurolophus, left. Shang Dynasty piece, right.

Parasaurolophus, left, Shang Dynasty piece, middle and parasaurolophus right. As a hadrosaurid, Saurolophus would have been a bipedal/quadrupedal herbivore, eating a variety of plants. Its skull permitted a grinding motion analogous to chewing, and its teeth were continually replacing and packed into dental batteries that contained hundreds of teeth, only a relative handful of which were in use at any time.

Plant material would have been cropped by its broad beak, and held in the jaws by a cheek-like organ. Its feeding range would have extended from the ground to ~4 meter (13 ft) above. Common S. angustirostris would have been an important large herbivore in the Nemegt Formation, but S. osborni was rare in the Horseshoe Canyon Formation and faced competition from other duckbills (Edmontosaurus and Hypacrosaurus).

Crest

The distinctive spike-like crest of Saurolophus has been interpreted in multiple ways, and could have had multiple functions. Brown compared it to the crest of a chameleon, and suggested it could provide an area for muscle attachment and a connection point for a nonbody back frill like that seen in the basilisk lizard. Peter Dodson interpreted similar features in other duckbills as having use in sexual identification.

Maryaska and Osmska, noting the hollow base, suggested that the crest increased the surface area of the respiratory cavity, and helped in thermoregulation. James Hopson supported a function as a visual signal, and further mentioned the possibility that there were inflatable skin flaps over the nostrils that could have acted as resonators and additional visual signals.”…..Wikipedia

Some believe the mythical Chinese dragon may be the dinosaur in the Gretaceous Period. The Chinese character of Dragon has been formed by the pattern derivation which must base some thing in the real world.

If this is true, then the ancient Chinese must see the live dinosaur to compose the dragon character.

The shape of ancient character of dragon looks like the shape of dinosaur. Tyrannosaurus is the major dinosaur family of the Gretaceous period. Tyrannosaurus was one of the largest terrestrial carnivores of all time. It stood approximately 15 feet high and was about 40 feet in length, roughly six tons in weight.

In its large mouth were six-inch long, sharp, serrated teeth. The artifact has the simplified design of tyrannosaurus with only two legs.

The typical relief auspicious cloud lines in the Shang dynasty. It is made of white color nephrite with phenomena of differential weathering, cleaving veins and earth penetration.

Humans May be Primed to Believe in Creation

ISA 45:18 For this is what the LORD says—
he who created the heavens,
he is God;
he who fashioned and made the earth,
he founded it;
he did not create it to be empty,
but formed it to be inhabited—
he says:
“I am the LORD,
and there is no other.

Humans May be Primed to Believe in Creation
02 March 2009 by Ewen Callaway

A Boston University psychologist has recently published one of the silliest, lamest and most ironic materialist’s studies in quite some time. Perhaps she was feeling some publish or perish pressure from the University. In a story in New Scientist by Ewen Callaway, Kelemen set out to find out why most people continue to hold on to creationism and other “childlike” beliefs.

In an article entitled “Humans May be Primed to Believe in Creation”, Kelemen joins other materialist believers in wondering why they can’t get the regular folks out there to convert to their religion; Darwinism. There must be something wrong with their brains, which causes them to reject Darwinism and to accept weird things like creationism and intelligent design.

It never occurs to Kelemen or to New Scientist or to any of the scientists lauding her conclusions that people believe in creationism because it’s true.

And how ironic is it that if there is something wrong with our brains that forces us into this “erroneous thinking” and “promiscuous teleology” as she calls it—and she completely misses this— how ironic is it that for Darwinists it had to be evolution that put it there!

“Religion might not be the only reason people buy into creationism and intelligent design, psychological experiments suggest.

……”The very fact of belief in purpose itself might lead you to favour intelligent design,” says Kelemen”,

According to the article in New Scientist, “test subjects tended to endorse false statements implying that the Earth is designed and maintained for life.” In Kelemen’s mind then, that age old question has been settled by science and anyone who continues to believe that the earth is “designed and maintained for life is suffering from some kind of mental syndrome, illness or deficiency.

Is it “promiscuous teleology” to believe that a larger brain size means greater intelligence, or that one can tell which creatures are more ” primitive” by looking at them?

As a psychologist she may be surprised to hear that the scientific evidence that the universe was specially created for life is so overwhelming (anthropic universe) that science has had to resort to “string theory”, a “scientific” theory so speculative there can never be any evidence to support it (postulates an infinite number of alternative universes occupying the same space as our universe).

“What her work suggests is that the creationist side has a huge leg up early on because it fits our natural tendencies,” says Paul Bloom, a psychologist at Yale University. “It has implications for why most people on earth are creationists, I think.”

No, what her work suggests is that just as Cosmologists have had to scramble to deal with the glaring weaknesses of the big bang theory and our anthropic universe; and biologists with the language in DNA and with complex biological machines, some psychologists have had to try to explain why for example the majority of Americans believe in God and creationism.

Dear Ms. Kelemen, if the human brain is “designed” to believe in a Creator, pray tell who would have done that? Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: but let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me…..Jeremiah 9:23,24.

Vatican Hosts Darwin Conference

Genesis:19 Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field.

Psalm 14:1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”

By David Willey
BBC News, Rome

The Vatican is sponsoring a five day conference to mark the 150th anniversary of the publication of Charles Darwin’s Origin of Species.

The subject is the compatibility of evolution and creation.

It is one of two separate international academic conferences being sponsored by the Vatican this year.

They aim to re-examine the work of scientific thinkers whose revolutionary ideas challenged religious belief: Galileo and Charles Darwin.

Scientists, philosophers and theologians from around the world are gathering at the prestigious Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome to discuss the compatibility of Darwin’s theory of evolution and Catholic teaching.

Christian churches were long hostile to Darwin because his theory conflicted with the literal biblical account of creation.

But the Catholic Church never condemned Darwin, as it condemned and silenced Galileo.

Pope John Paul II said that evolution was “more than a hypothesis”.

Yet as recently as 2006 a leading Catholic Cardinal, Christoff Schoenborn, of Vienna, a former student and friend of Pope Benedict XVI caused controversy by saying that Darwin’s theory of natural selection was incompatible with Christian belief.

A leading American scholar of biology, Prof Francisco Ayala, plans to tell the conference that the so-called theory of intelligent design, proposed by Creationists, is flawed.

“The design of organisms is not what would be expected from an intelligent engineer, but imperfect and worse,” he said.

“Defects, dysfunctions, oddities, waste and cruelty pervade the living world”.
