Pterosaurs Have Not Been Extinct for 65,000,000 Years Not for 65,000 Years, Not for 6,500 Years, Not for 650 Years. Not for…..

An almost cursory glance at the literature of our ancestors should disabuse those interested (including paleontologists) that pterosaurs have been extinct at the very least through the medieval period. Pterosaurs as dragons should have been an obvious area of research for anyone who was actually interested in the truth.

Pterosaurs are flying creatures that have unique characteristics which should be readily identifiable in ancient literature. They are reptilian, serpentine, and have two legs with five toes.

They have bat-like wings and two “hands”which are attached to a long finger/arm under their wings. The long tailed versions (birds don’t have long serpentine tails) also sometimes feature a “vane” at the end which aided in aerodynamics (so it it is believed).

Science would not expect to encounter clearly identifiable representations of the pterosaur in ancient history because paleontologists state that the last individuals died out at least 65,000,000 years ago. So how do they react when a representation turns up which could not be anything else?

Mostly, they ignore it.

Meanwhile, the reality of their existence was so ingrained in Medieval culture that their activity was obliquely described in a newspaper weather report from that era:

“In the end of November and beginning of December last, many of the country people observed dragons (probably Pterosaurs) appearing in the north and flying rapidly towards the east; from which they concluded, and their conjectures were right, that…boisterous weather would follow” ….1793 European Newspaper comment on the Weather”…

Enter The Unicorn?

Psalm 92:10 “But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of a unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.”

Late translations of the Bible do not use the word unicorn no doubt because translators lost faith in the word. They wanted to protect the Word of God from non-believers who might criticize the Bible as being unreliable because it referred to “mythical” creatures.

By the way, unicorn is derived from a Greek word simply meaning “single horn”. Is it hard to believe that there existed in the past a creature with a prominent single horn? The fanciful, horsey-like drawings of the unicorn we see today were created long after anyone knew for sure what the unicorn is/was.

For the same reasons, (fear of generating biblical ridicule among them) translators de-emphasized the use of the word “dragon” in their translations. But as we’ve demonstrated on this site and of course as others have advanced–dragons and dinosaurs were the same creatures. To put it another way, stories about dragons, which emanated from virtually every culture of antiquity, were inspired directly or indirectly by real creatures that we now call dinosaurs–a word coined in the mid-1800′s.

The Gap theory and other theories that featured Pre-Adamic men were concocted by “Christians” out of weak faith as well. Looking for a way to explain Neanderthal and Cro_Magnon in the context of Christianity and a Creator, they concocted extra-biblical theories –in order to protect the Bible!? How silly the proponents of these theories must feel to know now that even science now has to admit that Cro-Magnon and Neanderthal were fully human–that they had the same DNA is we do.

If they had just believed what the Bible said, they would have already known that.

Elasmotherium (“Thin-Plate Beast”) was a genus of giant rhinoceros which stood, on average, 2 metres (6.6 ft) high and 6 metres (20 ft) long, with a single two-meter-long horn in the forehead. The animal may have weighed up to 5 tonnes (5.5 short tons). Its legs were longer than those of other rhinos and were designed for galloping, giving it a horse-like gait. It was probably a fast runner, in spite of its size. Its teeth were similar to those of horses, and it probably grazed low herbs.

The largest and latest species, E. sibiricum, lived in Southern Russia, Ukraine and Moldova during the Pleistocene. It appeared during the Late Pliocene in Central Asia. Its origin appears to be connected to the genus Sinotherium. E. inexpectatum and E. peii inhabited Eastern China during the Upper Pliocene – Early Pleistocene. They disappeared approximately 1.6 Ma.”…wikipedia

Hopefully, Christians do not accept the evolutionary timeline. If not, and we know that this animal once existed, isn’t it reasonable to assume that if not this creature, another one with a similar, single, prominent, horn was the Greek; Single Horn? or Unicorn?

As it happens, there has been a latter day sighting of such a creature reported in the literature:

“It is believed that Elasmotherium died out in prehistoric times. However, according to the Nordisk familjebok and to science writer Willy Ley, the animal may have survived long enough to be remembered in the legends of the Evenk people of Russia as a huge black bull with a single horn in the forehead.

There is also a testimony by the medieval traveller Ibn Fadlan which has been interpreted by some to indicate that Elasmotherium may have survived into historical times.

Ibn Fadlan’s account states:

There is nearby a wide steppe, and there dwells, it is told, an animal smaller than a camel, but taller than a bull. Its head is the head of a ram, and its tail is a bull’s tail. Its body is that of a mule and its hooves are like those of a bull.

In the middle of its head it has a horn, thick and round, and as the horn goes higher, it narrows (to an end), until it is like a spearhead. Some of these horns grow to three or five ells, (1 ell is 31 to 45 inches–shoulder to wrist) depending on the size of the animal. It thrives on the leaves of trees, which are excellent greenery. Whenever it sees a rider, it approaches and if the rider has a fast horse, the horse tries to escape by running fast, and if the beast overtakes them, it picks the rider out of the saddle with its horn, and tosses him in the air, and meets him with the point of the horn, and continues doing so until the rider dies. But it will not harm or hurt the horse in any way or manner.

The locals seek it in the steppe and in the forest until they can kill it. It is done so: they climb the tall trees between which the animal passes. It requires several bowmen with poisoned arrows; and when the beast is in between them, they shoot and wound it unto its death. And indeed I have seen three big bowls shaped like Yemen seashells, that the king has, and he told me that they are made out of that animal’s horn.”…Wikipedia

The moral of this story is; don’t give up belief in the Word of God. Soon enough, even scientists will be smart enough to believe it :0). See Also Faith Destroyed by Mythical Creatures in the Bible?

Bible Publishers Sued for “Anti-Gay” (anti-Homosexual) References

A Michigan man is seeking $70 million from two Christian publishers for emotional distress and mental instability he received during the past 20 years from versions of the Bible that refer to homosexuality as a sin.

Bradley LaShawn Fowler, a gay man, claims his constitutional rights were infringed upon by Zondervan Publishing Co. and Thomas Nelson Publishing, both of which, he claims, deliberately caused homosexuals to suffer by misinterpretation of the Bible.

Fowler, 39, is seeking $60 million from Zondervan and another $10 million from Thomas Nelson.

According to a USA Today report, Fowler’s two separate suits against the publishers claim the intent of the Bible revisions that refer to homosexuals as sinners reflect an individual opinion or a group’s conclusion.

Fowler says the deliberate changes made to first Corinthians, chapter six, verse nine caused him “or anyone who is a homosexual to endure verbal abuse, discrimination, episodes of hate, and physical violence … including murder.”

Fowler, who is representing himself in both lawsuits, claims the publishers are misinterpreting the Bible by specifically using the word homosexuals, which made him an outcast from his family and contributed to physical discomfort and periods of demoralization, chaos and bewilderment.

“These are opinions based on the publishers and they are being embedded in the religious structure as a way of life,” he tells a local NBC TV station affiliate in Grand Rapids.

Fowler admits that every Bible printed is a translation that can be interpreted in many ways, but he says specifically using the word “homosexual” is not a translation but a change.

Fowler says Zondervan Bibles published in the ‘80s used the word homosexuals among a list of those who are “wicked’ or unrighteous and won’t inherit the kingdom of heaven.”

Zondervan, for its part, issued a statement to the Grand Rapids press stating it does not translate the Bible or own the copyright for any of the translations it publishes

“We rely on the scholarly judgment of the highly respected and credible translation committees behind each translation and never alter the text of the translations we are licensed to publish,” the statement reads.

“We only publish credible translations produced by credible Biblical scholars.”

U.S. District Judge Julian Abele Cook Jr., who will hear Fowler’s case against Thomas Nelson, says the court “has some very genuine concerns about the nature and efficacy of [Fowler’s] claims.”

“Messianic” Leaders say “Hebrew Tablet” Validates Jesus’ Claims

ISRAEL/JORDAN (ANS) — Israeli Jewish believers in Jesus say the recently publicized Hebrew tablet describing the death and resurrection of a messianic figure challenges centuries of teachings by rabbinic Judaism that the redemptive process of Jesus was a departure from biblical Jewish understanding, according to a story carried on

The story says that the unique stone tablet dubbed “Gabriel’s Revelation” contains 87 partial lines of archaic Hebrew in which the archangel commands a messianic ruler identified as the “Prince of Princes” to rise after having been dead for three days.

“The tablet was found in neighboring Jordan some eight years ago, but just last week gained international attention after featuring as one of the centerpieces at a special Israel Museum event marking 60 years since the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls,” said Israel Today.

“The content of the tablet quickly made headlines after a leading Israeli professor of Bible studies, Israel Knohl of the Hebrew University, spoke of his conclusions regarding the script.”

In an interview with the International Herald Tribune, Knohl called the text “revolutionary” in its confirmation that Messiah suffering and dying was originally a Jewish concept.

Knohl differed with other experts who examined the tablet by suggesting it is speaking of a specific messianic Jewish figure named Simon, a first century BC leader who led a failed revolt against King Herod of Judea.

Knohl said that whether the tablet is speaking of Simon or not, the fact that the concept of a messiah figure suffering, dying and being resurrected was already established by the time of Jesus should shake the Christian world.

According to Knohl, the tablet proves that “what happens in the New Testament was adopted by Jesus and his followers based on an earlier messiah story.”

The story added that Gershon Nirel, a prominent Israeli historian and Jewish believer in Jesus, has a different take. He says the tablet is further evidence that Jesus was the kind of messiah Israel was waiting for, even if the rabbis now teach that Jesus failed to meet the biblical messianic criteria.

“Judaism is coming closer to the idea of redemption through the cleansing blood of Messiah, an idea that had been abandoned throughout the last centuries,” said Nirel.

The story went on to say that Israeli theologian and fellow Messianic Jew Tsvi Sadan added that even if Knohl’s conclusions rub some believers in Jesus the wrong way, they still represent a step in the right direction.

“One can agree or disagree with Knohl’s conclusion, but the persistence of one of the leading Old Testament scholars in Israel today to prove that the death of the Messiah for Israel’s sake is not a Christian innovation is commendable in light of the tenuous relationship between the Jewish people and Jesus,” explained Sadan.

Cro Magnon DNA Fully Modern-Scientists Claim Unchanged for 28,000 Years

If Neanderthal is supposed to have lived in Europe beginning 300,000 years ago and Cro-Magnon for the last 30,000 years or so and it turns out that that their; “Modern” DNA is unchanged since that time; when did we do all that evolving?

We’ve written about this before, but a new article summarized in PLoS One has caused us to return to this subject again. A Cro-Magnon DNA sequence supposedly 28,000 years old was obtained from fossil bones discoverd in the Paglicci cave, in Italy.

The results show that the DNA is identical to the DNA sequences of certain modern Europeans. They claim therefore that the DNA sequence has remained static and unchanged over 28,000 years.

A Giant Axe to Grind with the Archeological Museum of Herakleion

So, let me axe you something?

If you were a world famous and unique museum featuring ancient Minoan and Cretan artifacts, and in your collection had giant double headed axes of stupendous size—wouldn’t you include something in a photo of the artifacts for scale? Wouldn’t you provide the dimensions of the objects in the official descriptions of the artifact?

Is the fact that these ancient axes are much taller than a human being desciptions I’ve read about the artifacts, even the one from the museum housing them fails to provide that detail.

Now, the fact that these objects are very large, does not prove that they were wielded by giants; perhaps as the museum and other sources claim, they were just votive or worshipful objects. However, the fact that the size detail is often omitted and the objects shown without anything that could provide scale makes me slightly paranoid. We get a sense of their size primarily from tourist photographs.

In a ”prior article, Ted Twietmeyer wrote about giant sledgehammers that had been found in an ancient copper mine. Clearly those hammers were wielded by very large men for purposes that were anything but votive. The point is, the notion that giant implements were wielded by giants in the past has been demonstrated over over again–to the open minded.

Returning to the giant double headed axes from up to 1700 years before Christ; there are reasons to at least consider the idea that they could have been made to be used by men of large stature. That information follows.

Evidence Of Giants Who Walked The Earth

“There is an ancient copper mine near the coastal town of Llandudno in North Wales. This area rises 220 meters above the Irish Sea, and it is known as the location of the Great Orme Copper Mine. It dates to the Bronze Age, about 3500 years ago. More than 2500 hammers at the mine have been recovered”.

“A six pound sledge hammer today is common. 10 and 12 pound hammers are extremely difficult to swing for any period of time. 20 pound sledge hammers are huge and can still be purchased, but no man could wield one through an eight hour shift in a copper mine”…

So what kind of man was able to swing a 60 pound hammer during their shift in an ancient copper mine?

Updates And Reviews, Re: Days of Peleg

Peleg’s Log is an infrequent and sporadic newsletter from Daysof, bringing news and stories about the successes, reviews, and responses that The Days of Peleg has elicited.

The big news is that The Days of Peleg has been selected by Allbooks Review International as their Featured Historical Fiction Book-Of-The-Month! Here is an excerpt from the review by Shirley Roe:

“Take a spoonful of history, mix it gently with some science fiction, add three tablespoons of ideology, a believable hypothesis, a dash of religion and a very large imagination and you have Jon Saboe’s The Days of Peleg.

Difficult book to categorize because the author has taken a sci-fi plot but instead of placing it far in the future, it is set in Ancient Mesopotamia….

Sometime in every man’s life, his beliefs and values are challenged but Peleg experiences more than a mere awakening. To say he finds himself is an understatement. He is shaken to his very core of reality, or reality as he knows it. He spends twelve years on a journey of strange colorful characters, foreign tongues, odd and almost unbelievable customs and monstrosities. When the journey is done will he return home or is his fate and the fate of his descendents changed forever?”

Another wonderful, almost embarrassing review can be found by Alicia Karen Elkins at the Cultural Arts Magazine HERE: Rambles Review

I just wanted to thank you for all of the support, words of encouragement, and friendship which you have shown me over this past year. I am always amazed and humbled at the diversity of readership that I have been blessed with. Already, The Days of Peleg has been the focus of diverse discussions such as Orthodox Jewish interpretations of the Zeh-Ra and indigenous Mesoamerican culture.

Also, with summer upon us, this is a great time to get that gift copy for a friend for their summer reading! Amazon is currently offering 10% off, and many people need a good fiction novel for their “stay-cation” this year!

May the Creator and His Seed bless you in the coming months!

Lambayeque Culture “Rocket”

Lambayeque culture (part of the Sican Culture) arose in the 8th century, at the end of the Second Horizon, as one more “little town” of the north coast of Peru, when Huari was still an empire full of wealth and splendour 100 to 150 years later, Huari disappeared off the map, but this little town would continue its evolution, developing in the following stage, the Late Interval.

If the Moche amazed with the beauty of his jewelry, the Lambayeque surprise moreover with his alloys.[citation needed] Although they achieved neither the size of the Moche culture, nor its political complexity, there is no doubt that in these arts of metallurgy, they exceeded their probable ancestors”…Wikipedia

Unidentified Flying Objects Over England: Possible Pterosaur Identifications?

Photo: Gordon’s umbrella shaped UFO on the right.

We’re not sure why we have focused so much lately on pterosaurs-still alive, still making the occasional appearance even though science says they’ve been extinct for millions of years–but we do have another here-with photos.

All the featured photos on this page were taken by Mr. Gordon Dungavel and are copyrighted by him. Their use here does not imply that Mr. Dungavel endorses any of our theories or speculations.

Mr. Dungavel is an avid skywatcher and photographer and a description of a sighting that he sent in to Coast to Coast caught our attention. His desciption of the “metal ball” hanging from the object reminded us of the tail vane of the pterosaur. This feature is often represented in ancient literature in “dragon” representations as a diamond shaped object at the end of a long tail.

It turns out, that five years ago, Mr. Dungavel took several early morning photos of what he later called the “batman”. A sample of those photos are also reproduced here.

“May 6th, 2007, 4.30 p.m.– “A small blue object shot across the sky above my wife and I [Harringdon Road, Bedford, Beds. England]. It was umbrella in shape with a hanging metal ball beneath its base.”"
