A 3D image of the device showing how the dials and gears might have worked

It was sunk with a wrecked ship in 80BC, found by divers in 1900 and until now has baffled scientists.

But the secrets of the Antikythera mechanism have finally been unlocked テ「竄ャ窶 and scientists claim it is more valuable than the Mona Lisa.

The device is a complex arrangement of more than 30 bronze gears, wheels and dials, and is at least 1,000 years ahead of its time.

Remnants of a case containing the pieces (one is pictured below) were found in a shipwreck off the Greek island of Antikythera in 1900.

In June this year, physicists used X-rays to read inscriptions and identified it as a clock-like astronomical calendar. But the precise function remained an enigma.

Now, after painstaking reconstruction, physicists say it could track astronomical movements with remarkable precision.

It was also able to follow the movements of the Moon and the Sun, predict eclipses and even recreate the irregular orbit of the Moon.

It may have predicted the positions of some of the planets. Lead researcher Prof Mike Edmunds, from Cardiff University, said: ‘The design is beautiful, the astronomy is exactly right. The way the mechanics are designed makes your jaw drop. Whoever has done this has done it extremely well.’

The findings, published in Nature, suggest Greek technology was far more advanced than previously thought. No other civilisation created anything as complicated for another 1,000 years.

Other marvels from the past…

- The Pyramids: In the 3rd millennium BC, there were no cranes or diggers. But the Egyptians managed to create 110 structures reaching 146m high

- The Incas: The South American empire lasted just 100 years from 1438AD, but built 22,530km of road

- Aztecs: They lived in Central America in the 14th to 16th centuries with education and religion

- Stonehenge: The Druids moved huge rocks 320km from Wales to Salisbury, Wiltshire, in the Neolithic and Bronze Age テ「竄ャ窶 and put them on top of each other

- A 14cm clay battery was found near the Iraqi capital Baghdad. It appears to be 2,000 years old

Bye Bye Darwin

Many Christians take evolution as a given which can not be challenged and is not worth bothering with. The facile response that God could have worked his ways through evolution or any way he pleased is totally thoughtless.

It goes against the core of Christianity, Judaism and even Islam. All religious people who hold the Bible as a sacred book and who follow its precepts know that God is the source of life.

Evolution denies this.テつ

…..If God did not intervene in manテ「竄ャ邃「s creation, then where did the soul come from? Is there a gene in man which created the soul?

If man is just an advanced mutation, he can not have a soul, he can not have the gift of everlasting life which is what religion teaches us. Evolution is therefore the enemy of everything that religion teaches us.

テつ

……..What does it take to create a successful gene? Letテ「竄ャ邃「s take one example – DNA Polymerase III. This is the main gene involved in DNA replication in one celled organisms. This gene is made up of seven sections each 300 to over 1000 amino acids long. Now what are the odds of through random mutation such a gene arising?

Letテ「竄ャ邃「s see we would need a chain some 2000 amino acids long with the proper amino acid (one of 20) in each link.

Now the chances of this occurring, even if we were to agree that there can be some amino acid substitution at each position, letテ「竄ャ邃「s say one of any 5 could fit in each one and still be effective (this is very optimistic and gives lower odds than in reality) the odds would still be 4 to the 2000th power.

That yields a number larger than a 1 with some 1500 zeros behind it. An evolutionist would say given enough generations and enough individuals, such a thing could happen. The answer is an absolute no.

In a species that replicated on a daily basis for the last 3.5 billion years since life is supposed to have begun on earth there would have been 1,277,500,000,000 generations. That takes care of 12 zeros, we still need to get rid of 1488.

The Pterodactyls of Fresno County, California

s8int.com: There are plenty of debunkers for the Fresno sighting presented right here in this article. In fact, the author largely discounts the possibility that actual pterosaurs were sighted. Pterosaurs are extinct. How do we know? Science says so and-no one has seen one. Except that any reported sightings are discounted and ridiculed.

One reason to credit the story is the description of the eyewitnesses. These sightings took place in 1891 and yet witnesses mentioned an alligator-like bill. To our knowledge, pterosaur species which could actually fit that description as well as the estimated wingspan (like the pterosaurs pictured on this page)have only recently been discovered (last 20 years) and would probably not have been the prototype for a faked pterosaur sighting.

One of the strangest newspaper stories from the latter years of the nineteenth century came from California. It began in the summer of 1891. Several persons from Fresno County were reported to have seen a pair of large flying creatures that resembled pterosaurs (being featherless, with reptilian snouts and fifteen foot wingspans).テつ

The details were first published in the Selma, California, Enterprise, to which I don’t currently have access, but it quickly spread to outlying newspapers. So, we can reconstruct the story from articles published by other newspapers.

First, the general details from corresponding newspapers:

WASHINGTON – When it comes to science and God, Americans want it all テ「竄ャ窶 テ「竄ャナ溺RIs and miracles,テ「竄ャツ according to this weekテ「竄ャ邃「s Time magazine.

Increasingly, however, evangelicals are standing in the way. But these religionists may not be who you think.

Richard Dawkins, Oxford Darwinist and best-selling author of テ「竄ャナ典he God Delusion,テ「竄ャツ says you canテ「竄ャ邃「t have it all. Religion is pernicious and survives only because it has direct or indirect Darwinian survival value. Faith is largely a side-effect of the trust we learn as youths. But luckily for us, according to Dawkins, テ「竄ャナ泥arwin made it possible to be an intellectually fulfilled atheist.テ「竄ャツ

Atheist philosopher Daniel Dennett, recent author of テ「竄ャナ釘reaking the Spell: Religion as a Natural Phenomenon,テ「竄ャツ has long claimed Darwinism to be a テ「竄ャナ砥niversal acidテ「竄ャツ which eats through all traditional notions of God and morality. For Dennett, religion survives because our brains evolved, albeit irrationally, to fall in love, which of course has reproductive advantages.

And in a recent Newsweek, atheist neuroscientist Sam Harris, author of テ「竄ャナ典he End of Faithテ「竄ャツ and most recently テ「竄ャナ鏑etter to a Christian Nation,テ「竄ャツ presents his テ「竄ャナ鼎ase Against Faith.テ「竄ャツ And where does he begin? At the beginning, of course, deriding the faithful for suggesting God had something to do with nature.

What is happening? Is it all just election-year hoopla against the religious right? I suggest another explanation. A quiet revolution is underway; and it will not be publicized.

Itテ「竄ャ邃「s now been more than 80 years since Hubble observed evidence for the Big Bang, challenging the conventional wisdom among scientists that the universe was eternal. As theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking commented, テ「竄ャナ鄭lmost everyone now believes that the universe, and time itself, had a beginning at the Big Bang.テ「竄ャツ

Four decades ago, scientists began to notice the テ「竄ャナ吐ine-tuningテ「竄ャツ of the laws of physics, thus revealing the vast odds against a life-sustaining universe. As just one example, if gravity were one part in 100 billion greater or smaller, life would not be possible. Our universe would have kept expanding without forming galaxies, or matter in our universe would have stuck together without forming stars and planets.

And itテ「竄ャ邃「s been 10 years since Michael Beheテ「竄ャ邃「s テ「竄ャナ泥arwinテ「竄ャ邃「s Black Boxテ「竄ャツ first awakened a slumbering world to the テ「竄ャナ妬rreducible complexityテ「竄ャツ of many molecular systems, showing that a step-by-step Darwinian process couldnテ「竄ャ邃「t have produced them and that, instead, intelligent foresight was necessary.

We are in the midst of not one but two information revolutions. In the last half-century, scientists have recorded reams of genetic information as well as an intricate system for storing, copying, and editing this information, leading Bill Gates to comment that テ「竄ャナ泥NA is like a computer program but far, far more advanced than any software ever created.テ「竄ャツ

The cell is a far cry from what scientists in Darwinテ「竄ャ邃「s day thought was something like a simple blob of Jell-O.

Some intellectuals are noticing. Probably the most cited atheist philosopher of the last half-century is Antony Flew. At Oxford, Flew sparred at C.S. Lewisテ「竄ャ邃「 Socratic Club. But in case you missed it, due to the mounting scientific evidence, Flew has become a theist. テ「竄ャナ的 think the argument to intelligent design is enormously stronger than it was when I first met it,テ「竄ャツ Flew said in an interview.

He insists that he doesnテ「竄ャ邃「t believe in heaven, hell or the God of the Bible but that he now sees the origin of life as strong evidence for intelligent design, commenting that テ「竄ャナ鍍he findings of more than 50 years of DNA research have provided materials for a new and enormously powerful argument to design.テ「竄ャツ

Books on atheism used to quote Flew abundantly and authoritatively. Not anymore, although Dawkins derisively mentions Flewテ「竄ャ邃「s conversion テ「竄ャナ妬n his old age.テ「竄ャツ

Just as we have confidence that black holes exist, not by direct observation, but because of the movement of bodies around the blackness, so, too, can one be sure an intellectual revolution is underway when we increasingly find books on The New York Times best-seller list by evangelical atheists like Richard Dawkins.

These authors are surely responding to something. That something is powerful scientific evidence challenging their worldview. Time got it right: テ「竄ャナ典his debate long predates Darwin, but the anti-religion position is being promoted with increasing insistence by scientists angered by intelligent design. テ「竄ャツヲテ「竄ャツ

Fleet of 12 Sea-going Ships Discovered Buried Beneath the Sand in Egypt

Nov 27 2006

This 140 foot, “5,000″ year old “sun boat” was found buried near the great pyramid.テつ

テ「竄ャナ填ntil recently it was not thought that the Egyptians possessed any real maritime capability, especially during the periods that correspond to the erection of the earliest luni-solar monuments.

However, Graham Hancock recounts in The Fingerprints of the Gods, that strangely, a fleet of 12 sea-going ships had been discovered buried beneath the sand in Egypt; Hancock was in fact moved to ask: テ「竄ャナ努hat was the burial in the desert of 12 high-prowed seagoing ships if it was not also a mystery that cried out, loudly, for solution?テ「竄ャツ before providing his own commentary on the matter, citing first a 1991 news release from The Guardian, London, 21 December:

A fleet of 5000-year old royal ships has been found buried eight miles from the Nile. American and Egyptian archaeologists discovered the 12 large wooden boats at Abydos テ「竄ャツヲ

Experts said the boats- which are 50 to 60 feet long テ「竄ャ窶 are about 5000 years old, making them Egyptテ「竄ャ邃「s earliest royal ships and among the earliest boats found anywhere テ「竄ャツヲThe experts say the ships, discovered in September, were probably meant for burial so the souls of the pharaohs could be transported on them. テ「竄ャヒ弩e never expected to find such a fleet, especially so far from the Nile,テ「竄ャ邃「 said Davis Oテ「竄ャ邃「Connor, the expedition leader and curator of the Egyptian Section of the University Museum of the University of Pennsylvania….

… the University of Pennsylvania archaeologists had, for legitimate security reasons reburied the 12 mysterious boats they had stumbled on in 1991. They had hoped to return in 1992 to continue the excavations, but there had been various hitches and, in 1993, the dig was still being postponed.

In the course of my research Oテ「竄ャ邃「Connor had sent me the official report of the 1991 season, mentioning in passing that some of the boats might have been as much as 72 feet in length. He also noted that the boat-shaped brick graves in which they were enclosed, which would have risen well above the level of the surrounding desert in early dynastic times, must have produced quite an extraordinary effect when they were new ..

….テ「竄ャ邃「 Each grave had originally been thickly coated with mud plaster and whitewash so the impression would have been twelve (or more) huge テ「竄ャヒ彙oatsテ「竄ャ邃「 moored out in the desert gleaming in the Egyptian sun. The notion of their being moored was taken so seriously that an irregular shaped small boulder was found placed near the テ「竄ャヒ徘rowテ「竄ャ邃「 or テ「竄ャヒ徭ternテ「竄ャ邃「 of several boat graves. These boulders could not have been there naturally or by accident; their placement seems deliberate, not random. We can think of them as テ「竄ャヒ彗nchorsテ「竄ャ邃「 intended to help テ「竄ャヒ徇oorテ「竄ャ邃「 the boats.テ「竄ャ邃「

….Like the 140-foot ocean-going vessel found buried beside the Great Pyramid at Giza, one thing was immediately clear about the Abydos boats テ「竄ャ窶 they were of an advanced design capable of riding out the most powerful waves and the worst weather of the open seas. According to Cheryl Haldane, a nautical archaeologist at Texas A-and-M University, they showed テ「竄ャヒ彗 high degree of technology combined with grace.テ「竄ャ邃「

Exactly as was the case with the Pyramid boat, therefore (but a least 500 years earlier) the Abydos fleet seemed to indicate that people able to draw upon the accumulated experiences of a long tradition of seafaring had been present in Egypt from the very beginning of its 3000 year history. Moreover, I knew that the earliest wall paintings found in the Nile Valley, dating back perhaps as much as 1,500 years before the burial of the Abydos fleet (around 4500 BC) showed the same long, sleek, high-prowed vessels in action.

The Ancients Knew of the Global Flood

The Hittites were once believed to be mythological despite their being mentioned in the Bible.

“Since Noah’s Ark landed in the mountains of Ararat (the mountains rose at the close of the Flood), it is not surprising that Noah’s progeny migrated down the new Tigris River valley from the mountains to found the earliest post-Flood civilizations such as Sumer, Akkad, Uruk, and Nimrud (which later became Babylon), Haran, Jericho, and Sidon (Phoenicia), and more distantly, Egypt and the Indus Valley of N.W. India. (The Tigris and the Euphrates rivers were named after two of the four pre-Flood rivers mentioned in the Bible that flowed from the Garden of Eden.”)テつ

Jose F. Solis, a doctoral candidate in the College of Architecture, novice shipbuilder and designer, pondered this question: Will it float or not?

His assignment as part of his qualifying written final exam was to build a model of Noahテ「竄ャ邃「s ark.

This meant producing the necessary elements, including drawings, dimensions, assumptions, specifications for materials, a construction contract for work, an estimate and a final bid price. A wooden ship of this size that met all physical laws was uncharted territory, yet his allotted time was forty hours.テつ

Neanderthal DNA “Almost” Identical to Humans ..[Oops!]…

Church of Darwin, s8int.com, Science, Sophistication of Ancestors, Uncategorized | Posted by Chris Parker
Nov 17 2006

Daily Mail

s8int.com comment: “A few weeks ago South African scientists reported finding a supposedly 360 million year old fossil lamprey. The problem for evolutionary theory is; the fossil lamprey is virtually identical to “present day” lampreys.

テつJust in case some of those pesky creationists were around to ask embarrasing questions, the scientists noted that though the fossil had surprisingly not evolved much, it appeared that the lampreys had “gotten slightly longer”!

What kind of scientist would make such an assumption based on one specimen? An evolutionary scientist who needs to show something for 360 million years of work, that’s who.

That brings us to the subject of this article, “Neanderthal man”. The more we learn about Neanderthal, the less primitive he becomes. Recent scientific articles have admitted that modern man and Neanderthal met, interacted and even interbred. A recent article suggests that Europeans could be 5% Neanderthal

On the other hand, many ruling paradigm scientists are still insisting that Neaderthals couldn’t speak and that there certainly was no interbreeding. So, what would happen if scientists were able to isolate Neanderthal DNA, as they have recently actually done with material found in a Croation cave?

Neanderthal DNA is 99.9% identical to “human” DNA! Blockbuster! All over the news, right? 99.9% identical is certainly startling, all right but its not 100% identical, seemingly preserving something for evolutionary scientists to hang their hats on. Like saying it looks like lamphreys got slightly longer over 360 million years.

What they don’t give you is the following fact as quoted from a lecture by Eric Lanser, Ph D; (easily verified elsewhere) “Any two humans on earth are 99.9 percent identical in their DNA sequences”.

This kind of puts the data on Neanderthal DNA in a whole new light; their DNA differs from ours exactly as our differs from each other! Neanderthal is/was exactly as different from you as your next door neighbor is, only he/she is not typicallyテつdepicted hunched over wearing animal skins and carrying a spear.

Given the fact that DNA sequencing shows that “modern humans” and Neanderthal are “identical”, the article below really makes no sense, continuing the fiction that the populations remained separate and that we (modern humans) won (in evolutionary terms) and that they lost. Turns out that we’re a little shorter, maybe.”

.

Perhaps without their knowledge, every Sunday, thousands of visitors to the forest of Fontainebleau walk past and through the vestiges of an unknown civilization.

The forest of Fontainebleau is one of largest and most beautiful forests in France; it covers 68.34 square miles, to which it is necessary, when considering the area, to add the 13 square miles of the Three Pinions National Forest.

Among the trees and the rocks with the fantastic forms, one can feel this magic atmosphere. The mystery of the forest of Fontainebleau is the subject of a sharp controversy. The question always arises: Was Fontainebleau the center of an old unknown civilization?
